The recent 0.111 release in xenial and the Ubuntu Phone vivid overlay
should improve things somewhat:
1. we are using taglib directly for scanning of music files (videos
still go through GStreamer).

We used to follow symlinks, but stopped doing so when we ran into
problems when people used them to create cycles (e.g. "ln -s .. foo")
that caused the scanner to go into a loop. Ignoring all symlinks

I would suggest that in these situations, the active/focussed tab should show
the 'close' icon.

computer via USB it should be visible in the file manager, letting them

If you run "restart mediascanner-2.0" in the console, it will restart
the existing instance and should see the contents of the bind mount.
Mediascanner uses inotify to track changes to the directories it
watches. I guess the events we're watching don't cover mount
operations. That said, the

Looking at the logs, the mediascanner appears to be getting stuck on a
particular file. This has almost certainly been fixed when the
extraction logic was moved to a separate process (bug 1508142).

Just wrote a test that reproduces the behaviour described here. It
looks like the code correctly tidies up the inotify watches for the
moved subdirectory, but doesn't remove the moved files from the index.

Pagination of embedded objects isn't (yet?) supported, so this option
isn't available via the `/api/v1/departments` endpoint. I'll need to
look into adding those links to handle pagination of the embedded
objects - it's essentially a collection of packages embedded in a single
department item, so
