What do you mean by “proposed” kernel ? I compiled kernel via the linux-
source of my ubuntu 14.04 LTS, version of the kernel is 3.13.0-48 (using
“uname -r”) and the sources of btusb.c file doesn’t contain the patch, I
had to patch the code myself.

Started up, logged in to gnome classic...got an error message about
/etc/profile (not sure if related, will try to reproduce)
...and no pointer. Hit the laptop-shortcut to enable/disable touchpad...it did
not come back. Plugged usb mouse in...still did not come back, but I
*I was able to right click and after a minute or two, the pointer
reappeared. There is a separate issue where the screen brightness
buttons do not work for a minute or two after boot...it seems like when
the screen brightness buttons worked, that's when the pointer became not
invisible.

I'm not sure if root on NFS was ever attempted/supported. You'd
basically need half an OS in your initramfs then? :-)

Fixed in silo ubuntu/landing-006 today for vivid. At least, the
checkbox stays in one state and won't respond or change until the
transition is complete, which seems acceptable.
