This will also be put into /etc/fstab. As after installation the UUID does not exist, such systems don't have any actual swap. UPGRADE FIX === An upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid) will detect and comment out these broken swap devices from /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab. If you actually want to use those, do these steps: - Find the swap device that was meant to be used in sudo fdisk -l (it should say Linux swap in the last column), remember the device name (something like /dev/sda5) - Find the UUID in /etc/crypttab (the long alphanumeric ID after UUID=) - Run sudo mkswap -U 1234... /dev/sda5, replacing 1234 with the above UUID, and /dev/sda5 with the device name from step 1. - Edit /etc/crypttab to append ,offset=1024 in the fourth (last) column of the cryptswap1 line; ensure that there is *no space* between the cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 and the appended option. If there is a leading # in the file, remove that too. - If there is a leading # in /etc/fstab in the line starting with /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 line, remove that. - Run sudo update-initramfs -u. How does this fix the problem? So it's clean and up-to-date. I have libfreetype6 and libfreetype6-dev installed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1254085] Re: ssh fails to connect to VPN host - hangs at 'expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_ECDH_REPLY'
I had the same issue. No VPN tho, client is `OpenSSH_6.6.1p1 Ubuntu- 2ubuntu2, OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014` and server is `OpenSSH_6.6.1p1 Ubuntu-2ubuntu2, OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014` (yes, same). Of course scp or rsync and anything using ssh connection using openssh was broken as well. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1385813] Re: find -size -Nk seems to be off by 1
The -size -nX check works like this: How many units sized one X each is the file using, a) less than n or b) at least n Therefore -size -1M or -size -1k or -size -1c all match only empty files. A 1025 byte sized file uses two 1K-units (it has to, there is only space for 1024 bytes in a single 1K unit) and will therefore not match -size -2k. cu Andreas ** Changed in: findutils (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to findutils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385813 Title: find -size -Nk seems to be off by 1 Status in findutils package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: If I have a file of size less than 1k, and use: find -size -1k to try to find it, it doesn't. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1464950] Re: output flushing error causing ugly output for autoremove
Yeah, relatively recent in its very visible form, but a relatively old problem in its cause. Fixed in upstream git for a while, but thanks to diverting branches (abi-breakfree unstable and abi-breaking experimental) it hasn't reached a (non-experimental) release yet: http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/apt/apt.git/commit/?id=2a884c612b10b27f4be2cc6dd689bfe448d9361a It is written as an abi break, but could be rewritten to not require one with some care (at least binary compatible, technically source compatibility breaks and theoretically its still a behavior change). I just decided against it at the time it was clear we would have to keep the diversion a little longer than originally planed and backported just the absolutely needed stuff. We could do it now, but I guess the time is better spent in stopping to semi-maintain two branches. Hence setting fix commited in anticipation of fix released soon [all while realizing that I might very well be the biggest blocker in this process with my perfectionism] ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1464950 Title: output flushing error causing ugly output for autoremove Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: When I do a dist-upgrade, I get the following output: Reading package lists... For gcc, I had to install gcc-multilib instead of gcc:i386 (gcc and gcc:i386 seem to be incompatible). But there is no freetype6-multilib package hence my bug report. I think the following console output will tell you more things than long sentences : alex@leon:~$ sudo apt-get install libfreetype6-dev:i386 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required: libexpat1-dev Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. Need to get 6,832 kB of archives. After this operation, 17.2 MB of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? ^C I'm sure you understand removing build-essential and gcc is not really something I want to do. Hopefully, wine provides a configure switch (--without-freetype) to workaround the issue. If you need more details, just let me know. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1464994] [NEW] Low audio volume on Thinkpad Helix
Public bug reported: I have a Thinkpad Helix, which I dual boot with Windows 8.x and Ubuntu. The audio volume in Ubuntu is low, compared to Windows, even when the device output is set on 100%. For example, when I watch something, on VLC, I can increase both the VLC volume and the device output to more than 100%, say 130% each; in this case, I reach a volume comparable to Windows, but in this case is clipped. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1316634] Re: Does not automatically reconnect to hidden WiFi network
Unfortuately I have to admit that my patch did not really solve th issue. While yesterday the problem did not reappear, today I was experiencing the problem again. Before I was thinking, that the problem appeared everytime when the network was connected before and thus when not manually connecting on every second boot, but this might not be true, because yesterday I thought the issue was fixed, because the issue didn't appear after a reboot even when the network was connected before. I was thinking, there was something like a state that survives a reboot and could be cleared with the patched script. It might be that the patched script somehow changes some probabilities, but the issue is definitely not fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316634 Title: Does not automatically reconnect to hidden WiFi network Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Running Lubuntu 14.04 32-bit on a Lenovo 3000 C200 laptop with an integrated Broadcom network adapter, I installed firmware-b43-installer and then successfully connected to my hidden (SSID not broadcast) WiFi net. But I see that it will not automatically reconnect. I don't have to re-enter the password, but I do have to click the nm-applet indicator, choose 'Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network' and then choose my already- defined connection, which indeed has been saved but not used to automatically reconnect. If I edit the connection, I see that on the General tab it is already set to 'Automatically connect to this network when it is available.' The only way I can get automatic reconnection is to enable SSID Broadcast. And a similar effect: If I am connected to the network while SSID Broadcast is in effect and then disable SSID Broadcast, network- manager immediately loses the connection. Someone suggested that network-manager would find the hidden network if I just waited, but after waiting 15 minutes it had still not connected. Dual-booting this same laptop with Windows Vista, I see that Windows knows how to automatically reconnect to the hidden net. I see that https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network- manager/+bug/295796 describes similar behavior, but that was reported back in 2008 and I'm imagining that there should be a separate report for the new release. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1316634] Re: Does not automatically reconnect to hidden WiFi network
When the issue occurs, the network manager tells me that there are wireless networks available, but it does not connect automatically to the hidden network. Probably there is some state that is stored in NetworkManager: * When you have manually disconnected from a wireless network, you probably don't want to reconnect automatically. * When you was connected to a wireless network, you probably want to reconnect to that network. * When you have manually chosen a specific network, you might want to connect only to that network There should be something like on mobile phones where you can choose one network manually or let the phone choose the network automatically. Maybe some of such state information survives a reboot. [Touch-packages] [Bug 219057] Re: Bluetooth does not coexist with WiFi

Well done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219057 Title: Bluetooth does not coexist with WiFi Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: On my system bluetooth and wifi are unusable together. I have a built- in CSR-based bluetooth module in my laptop, and an Atheros wifi. Wifi transfers slow to a halt whenever there is BT traffic. For example, if I play a music file from another machine through the network using a BT headset, only the first few seconds of the file will play until the player runs out of buffered data. No further data is downloaded. Web pages also do not download, and I even lose connection to AP from time to time. At the same time, it looks like AFH is trying to work. If I monitor the value returned by 'hcitool afh', it changes. But this seems to have little effect on connection quality. Is this a problem with my hardware, or the AFH implementation? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1344883] Re: PageHeadSections/Picker: selectedIndex changes incorrectly when inserting/removing model entries
Your sample code doesn't remove items from the model, but inserts. The behaviour you experience is due to both components using ListView (PathView or GridView behaves the same). When you alter the model, the currentIndex won't necessarily point to the same item was pointing anymore. Removing an element from the ListView will cause currentIndex to change as well. This bug is more related to ListView than to Picker itself. Try the same with a ListView, and I'm sure you'll experience the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1344883 Title: PageHeadSections/Picker: selectedIndex changes incorrectly when inserting/removing model entries Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I've attached a minimal program to demonstrate the problem. Observe that when changing the button code to remove index 3 instead of 10, the picker works correctly, and remains at item 18. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1390625] Re: mouse cursor gets corrupted
My problem: I have a laptop with Intel graphics. The cursor only has problems when I drag icons size LARGE and larger to Phanteon-files with icon-view and slingshot with large icon size. (I have not installed x-server) My solution: I used dconf-editor to adjust the default sizes. org pantheon desktop slingshot default-zoom-level: Normal org pantheon files icon-view default-zoom-level: Normal My cursor with normal icon-size https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CMxtVUCKK0 The funny thing is that the cursor goes crazy only when the icons are large. A summary: icon-size (smallest, smaller, small, normal, largest) - OK icon-size (large, larger) - FAIL The cursor hates the great icons. A large icon is not elementary :-) Enjoy your life -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1390625 Title: mouse cursor gets corrupted Status in elementary OS: Confirmed Status in Mesa: New Status in Unity: Invalid Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xorg-lts-utopic package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In Ubuntu 14.10, the mouse cursor graphic gets corrupted under certain occasions. It then looks flipped, sheared or shows fragments of a previous cursor. * when switching the cursor them forth and back in Gnome Tweak Tool * when dragdropping a document icon Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale on a high-dpi display (this was working right in 14.04). For example after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to start a dragdrop, the cursor appears 1/4 the expected size. Attached is a photo of a corrupted cursor (whereas a screenshot with Gimp showed the uncorrupted cursor).
