purely DNS and the other Network Manager... Dunno. My original issue was

I booted into recovery to see if there the network was working again.
It is a bug of Networkmanager. Probably the username 'power' doesn't
affect the connection.

Your right, it appears to only happen when I'm logged in.
If I boot cold, at the login screen I can close and open the laptop lid
as much as I want and the screen will instantly turn off (no fade),
which is what I expect to happen.
What information can I provide to fix this issue on my system
I'm still seeing this issue with Ubuntu 17.04.
To reproduce:
# ssh to localhost (or, any other host)
ssh -X user@localhost
# run a simple command like gedit or gnome-calculator
gedit
They run fine, unfortunately the menu is not available.

Steam can't install/update

When I had 16.10 everything was fine but when I've installed 17.04
(update was failed because X server crashed because of nvidia drivers)
there is few seconds delay after sound is played, the sound and video is
in sync but it look like sound is muted when it starts it work
The bug is still here in Ubuntu 17.10.
Tested by opening gedit, and adding a second tab : my eyes can hardly tell
which tab is active.
