[Touch-packages] [Bug 1338788] Re: startpar-bridge: does not notice, if upstart jobs are skipped
We don't use startpar in Ubuntu and don't plan to. It also does not get along with upstart Tasks. It's probably not worth trying to fix it in Ubuntu; we disabled its usage in sysvinit. startpar got split out into its own package in Debian/utopic-proposed, and will disappear from sysvinit as soon as the merge lands. Thus reassigning. ** Package changed: sysvinit (Ubuntu) = startpar (Ubuntu) ** Tags removed: systemd-boot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to sysvinit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1338788 Title: startpar-bridge: does not notice, if upstart jobs are skipped Status in “startpar” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: startpar-bridge: does not notice, if upstart jobs are skipped For example, if init.d script is enabled, yet equivalent upstart job bails-out in pre-start. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1350487] [NEW] Nautilus opens twice from launcher when first window browses mounted drive
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Sometimes when Nautilus window is opened, clicking on the icon instead of focusing the window opens a new window. How to reproduce: - Open Nautilus window. Mount a second hard drive (in my case) and browse it. - Unfocus it, focus Firefox - Click on the Nautilus icon - window should be focused, a new window is opened instead It doesn't work when you mount a FTP share or SSH share, only when mounting second hard drive (labeled Strefa 51, Area 51). Also, in order to reproduce this bug the first opened window must be browsing second hard drive, everything works correctly when you go to another drive on nth window. They also apply to remote logins which we really don't want to, and cause conflicts liek this. * There is no reason to create a /dev/autopilot-uinput symlink. Device symlinks make sense if they are stable and point to an unstable device name, like /dev/disk/by-label, but /dev/uinput is a fixed name which never changes. Instead, the rule should provide access to the current foreground session: KERNEL==uinput, SUBSYSTEM==misc, TAG+=uaccess and autopilot be fixed to use /dev/uinput directly. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1293242] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in ScaleScreen::getWindows()
I encounter this problem on my desktop pc that has just been freshly installed with Ubuntu 14.04 on a regular basis. No changes or tweaks to Unity. The problem started right after install. I have two laptops running Ubuntu with Unity not having this problem. The crash is triggered when you open multiple windows of the same application and click on the application icon in the launcher bar. The first time I do this compiz can recover itself and I get a Apport notification. If I accidentally trigger the bug a second time it completely crashes, does not recover and launcher, window borders as well as menubar are gone. Using Alt+Tab to switch the window works without problems. ** Changed in: unity Status: New = Confirmed ** Tags added: amd64 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1293242 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in ScaleScreen::getWindows() Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Unity se cerró luego de utilizar la utilidad ''Unity Tweak Tool'' especificamente al activar la opción ''Despliegue de ventanas'' Sistema actualizado, he debido reiniciar el equipo. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, I believe this is a nautilus-related request. It would be a real time saver if one could rename or delete files/folders from within the open/save file dialogs. Some typical situations where this is very useful: * you want to change the name of a folder in which you want to save the file. Possibly because have just created this folder from the very same dialog and made a typo in the name; * you want to cleanup the destination folder from obsolete files before saving; * you want to keep a backup of an existing file in the same folder, by renaming it before saving the new file. Windows offers this feature for as far as I can remember. It is not to try replicate behaviour, but it is a really nice feature, which does not impact the GUI look: * 2 extra entries in the contextual menu * 2-3 key bindings (F2, Delete, and Shift Delete) which already exist in plain Nautilus. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1349128] Re: Password typed to unlock the screen is sent to underlying Chrome window
As mentioned in the duplicate bug, if you have text selected, this also happens without suspending. Also, I've retitled this bug since the bug is much much worse than not taking the input, the input is actually sent to the underlying Chrome window, so people that type their password without paying too much attention are at risk of sending their password over hangouts or similar. ** Summary changed: - Ubuntu 14.04 lock screen doesn't accept keyboard input (until using indicators) + Password typed to unlock the screen is sent to underlying Chrome window -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1349128 Title: Password typed to unlock the screen is sent to underlying Chrome window Status in Unity: In Progress Status in Unity 7.2 series: In Progress Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: After upgrading to Unity version 7.2.2+14.04.20140714-0ubuntu1 on Trusty, the lockscreen sometimes fails to take the keyboard focus away from Chrome. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1240198] Re: Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS: I can confirm that opening dconf-Editor and enabling use-system-keyboard-layout in desktop.ibus.general works, just as stated in comment #23: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /indicator-keyboard/+bug/1240198/comments/23 I have experienced this keyboard layout issue since Ubuntu 13.10. Since then, different workarounds have been proposed, some of which have worked and some of which have not, also depending on whether 13.10 and 14.04 was running. Several weeks ago on 14.04, I enabled use-system- keyboard-layout, and from then on this bug has never returned. And by the way, in the meantime also e.g. this comment on Ask Ubuntu confirms this method as the best way to fix it, referring to this exact bug report: http://askubuntu.com/questions/362973/keyboard-layout- switches-to-english-each-time-i-reboot/442415#442415 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240198 Title: Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop Status in “ibus” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “indicator-keyboard” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I upgraded from raring to saucy. BUT: the keyboard works without problems, so it seems more like the complete UI is ignoring any sort of mouse input or something locks UI from mouse input. My current real strange workarround: Suspend and resume only one single time with lock screen on resume checked and I can uncheck the box again and don't experience any problems until I quit my KDE session (logout, reboot, ...) - at least most of the time. Sometimes the UI is even frozzen after a suspend2ram with locked screen. I'm able to reproduce this with a newly created user, too. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1340510] Re: session screen seen upon quick power key strike
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but it appears Mir's default behaviour is to immediately draw a frame on compositor (re)start (for non-nested servers only, like USC). It's the last parameter here: return std::make_sharedmc::MultiThreadedCompositor( the_display(), the_scene(), the_display_buffer_compositor_factory(), the_compositor_report(), !the_options()-is_set(options::host_socket_opt)); === bool compose_on_start I'm wondering if we've got that backwards. What we want to see on resume is a new frame from the nested server propagate through. So that statement should probably just be inverted: the_options()-is_set(options::host_socket_opt)); Thus on resume, the first frame comes from the nested server. Although we'd also want the same in the case of a single-server system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mir in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1340510 Title: session screen seen upon quick power key strike Status in Mir: In Progress Status in Mir 0.4 series: Won't Fix Status in Mir 0.5 series: Won't Fix Status in Unity System Compositor: New Status in The Unity 8 shell: New Status in “mir” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Image #125 on N4 1) boot phone and unlock phone to display dash 2) strike power key to blank unblank screen quickly 3) the dash is seen instead of lockscreen for a brief moment logging against u-s-c as this was fixed, but power policy changes may have effected this To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1340510/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1347053] Re: Clients are crashing with a fatal exception in MirSocketRpcChannel::send_message()
As I mentioned before, the failures shown in both the errors.u.c reports (and which are really confusing, I don't really trust the backtraces to be correct there, they don't make much sense) and the original backtrace, just indicate that that the server has died and the clients fail to communicate with it. [Touch-packages] [Bug 840325] Re: /etc/logrotate.d/pm-utils should not have compress option
** Changed in: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pm-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840325 Title: /etc/logrotate.d/pm-utils should not have compress option Status in “pm-utils” package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: I think that log files compression lowers the system performance on desktop computers which have now enough disk space for storing old logs. The nocompress and compress options of logrotate configure 2 different behaviours of logrotate. If the log file isn't compressed, logrotate will just rename it to something like 'log_file_name.log.1' with quite no disk input/output. If the log file is compressed, logrotate will read the file, compress it and rewrite the content into a new file with a name like 'log_file_name.log.1.gz'. I think that files compression is a good tradeoff only in case the compressed files have a longer lifetime than the log files (i. e. man pages, documentation, fonts, Debian package files, ...). Drawbacks of log files compression : - increases disk input/output - increases cpu and memory usage - increases energy consumption - slightly decreases the disk lifetime ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: pm-utils 1.4.1-7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-11.48-generic 2.6.38.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Sep 3 15:06:29 2011 InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release amd64 (20110427) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: pm-utils UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/840325/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Among other things, this can lead to apparent test suite hangs when running under cmake/ctest: ctest doesn't consider a test to have completed until stdout/stderr are closed, and the dbus-daemon subprocesses hold those file descriptors open. The default timeout for tests seems to be 2 hours, so this can introduce a long delay. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1273201] Re: bridge_ignore_without_connections.patch breaks NM created bridge at boot
I can confirm this for DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS and network-manager 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7. Reverting bridge_ignore_without_connections.patch (and recompiling) seems to solve this issue. Kindly re-evaluate bridge_ignore_without_connections.patch and exclude or adapt it for Ubuntu trusty and upcoming releases. Thanks, Raoul -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1273201 Title: bridge_ignore_without_connections.patch breaks NM created bridge at boot Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I've created a bridge with network-manager-gnome, the bridge slave physical device is eth0. After a reboot the bridge is brought up, but eth0 isn't attached. First test-case: Created a bridge with network-manager-gnome with the bridge slave physical device is eth0 and remove all other connections. After a reboot the bridge is brought up, but eth0 isn't attached. When I open /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and save it without any modification, eth0 is instantly added to my bridge. Strange! Second test-case: Created a bridge with network-manager-gnome with the bridge slave physical device is eth0. Disable the autoconnect of the default wired network. After a reboot the bridge is brought up, but eth0 isn't attached. Instead eth0 is brought up and full configured. After compiling and testing different upstream versions, i could track the problem down to bridge_ignore_without_connections.patch. A network-manager package without this specific patch, brings my bridge up at boot and adds eth0 to the bridge in both test-cases. I've checked the behaviour on my ubuntu 13.10 box with network-manager (0.9.8.0-0ubuntu22) and the trusty version network-manager (0.9.8.8-0ubuntu1) . Till now i couldn't encounter any sideeffects of removing this patch with the bridge created by libvirt. [Touch-packages] [Bug 849349] Re: libgssapi2-heimdal init_auth() discards configured enctypes
** Changed in: heimdal (Ubuntu) Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: heimdal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to heimdal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/849349 Title: libgssapi2-heimdal init_auth() discards configured enctypes Status in “heimdal” package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: Heimdal's libgssapi init_auth() makes a call to krb5_set_default_in_tkt_etypes() to support certain NFS clients. However, this call is always made, and thus can also be made when the second argument passed can be NULL. The behaviour of krb5_set_default_in_tkt_etypes() in such an invocation is to reset the GSS-API context to requesting keys with any enctype supported by the client libraries. The unfortunate side effect of this is that the list of desired enctypes requested by clients now no longer matches the list of approved enctypes specified in the system krb5.conf, and as such *all* GSS-API initiators effectively ignore the admin-configured list of desired enctypes. The proper fix is to call krb5_set_default_in_tkt_etypes() if and only if the second argument is not NULL, as per the attached patch. The patch has already been submitted upstream against 1.5, but also applies cleanly to all versions of Heimdal from at least Lucid (1.2.e1.dfsg.1-1ubuntu1) onwards. Seemingly at random, I have so far 3 times in 10 days had the font size (not UI size) suddenly jump to something much too large. UI scaling for the display is set at 1.38x and this is quite perfect for me, it sure means no one will be able to read my screen over my shoulder, but I that's fine! I had to install a Firefox plugin to apply scaling there, but I realise why that is. Anyway... I installed ubuntu-tweak and discovered that the large fonts were due to the Text Scaling Factor having jumped up to a number above 2.5... I also discovered that I could not move the slider because every time I moved it the fonts re-scaled the slider moved and lost mouse focus... and the slider reset to where it was to begin with... I clicked the button on the right to return to 1.0, and it returned to 1.4, which I assume is representative of the 1.38 I set in the screen scaling... but I have no explanation for why it suddenly jumped (when I logged out and back in) from 1.4 to something like 2.5.).. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1350801] [NEW] I am a new Ubuntu One user inappropriately uses a switch
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.10 r157 1. Navigate to System Settings Accounts. 2. If an Ubuntu One account is registered, remove it so that you can add one. 3. If you had to do that, and bug 1239618 isn't fixed yet, work around it by force-closing Accounts then reopening it. 4. Choose Add account 5. Choose Ubuntu One. What you see: * A switch followed by the text I am a new Ubuntu One user. * Below the switch, the label I am a returning user and my password is: This doesn't make sense: * Switches are for nouns or noun phrases that you can turn on/off (Wi-Fi, Flight Mode, Spell checking, etc), not for clauses. * The layout suggests that I am a returning user and my password is: will be present regardless of the state of I am a new Ubuntu One user, which would be contradictory. (What actually happens is that the I am a returning user and my password is: label and field disappear, but this is itself surprising.) * It's inconsistent with the Ubuntu One Web site. What you should see: * Radio buttons for I am a new Ubuntu One user and I am a returning user and my password is, as seen on https://login.ubuntu.com/+login.
