If I either blacklist nouveau or remove the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package
then everything works as expected with the current xserver-xorg-video-intel
package.
This also *seems* to make restarts shutdowns more reliable makes going to a
tty not be liable to cause some sort of looping

messages. Providing the more specific context will make this much more
obvious what this indicator is used for, especially to the first time
user.

The problem seems to occur after kernel updates. NetworkManager needs to
be restarted ('sudo kill PIDforNetworkManager) after suspend.

Please confirm that your BIOS battery is not the problem. This is a
typical BIOS battery issue after power off or sometimes after reboot,
the system's time may be incorrect.
The EASIEST way, is to replace the CMOS battery, which is just about
$2USD. If the clock problem is no longer an issue,

In case people aren't aware, the workaround for this bug is to go to System
Settings - Appliation Appearance - GTK
And then change the GTK2 theme from 'oxygen-gtk' to something else.
I've been using Clearlooks myself, and it completely
