I now have 3 clients (all up to date, 32 and 64 bit installations) for
whom it's happening on 14.04:
1) 24 inch 1920x1080 Samsung screen connected via HDMI (desktop)
2) 10 inch 1280x800 screen (netbook)
3) 15.6 inch 1920x1080 screen (laptop I mentioned previously)
Yet on my own 15.6 1920x1080
I was only able to reproduce the thread pounding on the phone, neither
X11, Mir desktop session or the emulator have shown this same behaviour.
On the device, however, this is happening right from the start. The
incomplete backtrace also suggests this is triggered from the android
side, IIUC.

traces :-( SysRQ missing is also a bit unhelpful there (yes, it's

fixes the issue; the new upload with rebuild against the new dbus-cpp
seems to fix the problem sufficiently: the qdbus command now tracks the
right global state properly.

1. Open the camera application
2. Press the Video button to switch to video mode
3. Place two fingers on the screen and move them apart to attempt to zoom
Expected result:
The picture zooms in and a slider appears indicating the zoom level

application under unity8-mir leads to not working softwares.

I confirm this on a up-to-date ubuntu 14.04 amd64 server installation.
My X server is running on a different machine.
Running gnome-terminal gives:
