Thank you very much @Jonathan. I can confirm removing the iwd.conf did
the trick on my end.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1648605] [NEW] Inserted text ends up on a wrong position after clicking in front of the underlined word in text edit field (web browser)

2016-12-08 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hello,
if you edit text in a web browser's text input field (like Gmail) and click
right in front of the last inserted word (the underlined one with auto
corrections available) and then start typing the cursor should stay in front of
the stuff it was put as well as the text inserted to the current cursor
position. Instead it gets moved after the underlined word and new text inserted
after as well.

I am on rc-proposed, MX4 (and I've been experiencing this bug ever since
auto correction was made available in the web browser)

Thank you very much for looking into this.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1648599] [NEW] OSK inserts display-text vs text difference to web textfields upon cursor move and key press

2016-12-08 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I've noticed many times now (ever since there are auto corrections present in
the web browser) that when editing a text field in a web browser - for me
usually gmail message composer (I haven't seen this in native apps yet) - the
word I just wrote gets inserted to the text upon moving the cursor to a
different place and start typing again.

That is:
1. Open something like Gmail and start composing a new email message
2. When you have a "few words" written, before you type space after the last
word, click to a different position inside the text to move the cursor elsewhere
3. Start typing (anything)

In most cases this results in the insertion of the last written word
(that was in display-text property but not in the text property - that
is if this is similar to QML TextInput) inside the text on the current
cursor position.

This is definitely an unexpected behaviour and makes editing while while
composing a message really painful.

I am on rc-proposed, MX4.
Thank you very much for looking into this.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1648593] [NEW] Keyboard usualy not showing up in apps after unlocking the screen

2016-12-08 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hello,
for the last month or even more I am experiencing this weird bug with OSK not
popping up after putting my phone to "sleep", that is locking the screen and
then unlocking it. It mostly happens with Telegram to me, as that is one
particular app that I keep running all the time, but I've experienced this in
other apps (including my own) as well and therefore expect it not to be related
to Telegram at all.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open any app (like Telegram) - OSK should pop up and work upon clicking on
any input
2. Lock the device (shut the screen down)
-- The length of the phone being asleep seems to have little influence on the
actual OSK keyboard behaviour - it seems to be pretty much random --
3. Unlock the device
4. Switch to the previously opened app if you are not there already

Sometimes it is hard for me to reproduce this while other times I seem
to be bumping into this every time I unlock the screen - so it is not
something I've seen once or twice in my life but is pretty much common.

To fix this behaviour switching out of the app and back to it again
usually works, though sometimes restarting the app is the only way to
get the OSK working.

I am on rc-proposed, MX4

Thank you very much for looking into this

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1630310] Re: Please add degree to the list of special charaters

2016-10-05 Thread zubozrout
I am using English and Czech layouts, both are missing this degree ° key.
Also, Stuart Langridge suggested introducing a compose key to the ubuntu
keyboard and one other person I talked to liked the idea as well. So maybe this
would be a good way to make the keyboard more feature-rich.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1630278] [NEW] Multiple selector cursors present in Notes app

2016-10-04 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hi,
If I open Notes on my phone and create or edit a note, then activate a
cursor/selector and keep it active while switching out and back to the app
again I can now see the old handles (can't get rid of those) and I can create a
new one. This way I can bring up as many cursors/selectors as I'd like.

The old ones are not usable, but they are present when clearly they
should not, as visible in the attached screenshot.

I am running rc-proposed on MX4 - and yesterday was the first time I've
seen this behaviour but I am not sure if it is a new bug or not.

Thank you

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1555751] Re: Some apps require a restart after switching to/from Wifi/Cellular to reconnect to the network

2016-09-17 Thread zubozrout
Hi,
yeah, this is a really an old issue. Nevertheless there are other problems
involved here - one thing is the app being unable to work after some change in
the connection but the other is the whole OS freezing and reinitializing itself
after about 10 to 60 seconds (not rebooting but starting directly from the
Ubuntu dotted loading screen).

I experience behaviour quite often to be honest, like 1 of 10 times I am
using my phone in a subway when my connection fluctuates from none any
(I've also seen this when my phone switched from cellular to wireless
and the vice versa). I am not sure what happens when my phone is in my
pocket untouched though. Sadly those spontaneous "almost-restarts" kill
all my applications and any stuff I may be working on there.

This happens for me on MX4 and I am not exactly sure when I saw it the
first time but it wasn't that long ago ... maybe something like
April/May 2016? (just a guess)

The system freeze bug I am experiencing may not be related to this
though, I am not sure. When Telegram ceases working for me I am usually
still able to kill it and start again, sometimes even send a message,
before the whole system stops responding. Then it takes up to two
minutes for it to realize it is stuck before it reinitializes itself.

  2) Start Dekko
  3) Refresh the inbox (notice the bouncing/loading bar stops eventually)
  4) Disable wifi so you are on cellular
  5) Refresh the inbox (notice the bouncing/loading bar stays continuously)

  Note
  - if after step 5 you restart the app it is fine
  - this only occurs on certain apps, specifically Dekko and Telegram are the
ones that i've noticed so far. (Both of which i assume try to have a long

  What I expected to happen:
At step 5) for the connection to automatically change to using Cellular and
not require an app restart

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1537774] Re: Viewfinder frozen and all buttons disabled after taking HDR picture

2016-09-14 Thread zubozrout
I am having this or similar issue on my MX4 ever since HDR was present
in the camera app. After 1 to n photos taken in HDR mode the camera
freezes, doesn't save the taken HDR picture, doesn't even show it ...
stays in a black screen with just a loading animation. In addition after
closing the app and starting it again the camera app has no access to
the camera and the device has to be rebooted in order to take additional
images.

Title:
Viewfinder frozen and all buttons disabled after taking HDR picture

Status in Canonical System Image:
  Confirmed
Status in camera-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Reported by royden in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
  /camera-app/+bug/1475895/comments/6

"Testing the fix released for Bug #1519766 (and likely #1478693) I can
  reliably freeze the camera-app (v. 3.0.0.616) on rc-proposed Arale
  r227 by taking HDR images.

Freeze happens around the 3rd or 4th shot of the same subject as
  reported in Bug #1519766.

HDR shots of shaded lamp in semi-dark room (taking up 3/4 of view)
  trigger freeze on 4/5th shot.

HDR shots of lamp on small table at distance in semi-dark room do not
  reliably trigger freeze.

Normal shots do not trigger freeze, with or without zoom AFAIKS.

Freeze comprises either the viewfinder holding the image of the
attempted capture and app being no longer responsive and needing to be
closed. Re-opening produces "Cannot access camera" error message
screen, with access permission or some other error as cause. Reboot
  needed to regain camera function.

Other freeze seen was a return of the viewfinder to a dark screen, and
the same error message screen appearing."

  Hello,

articles scrolling is almost impossible.

Now this is not the first site I find difficult to scroll on with an
Ubuntu's web browser unfortunately, though it is usually the case of
some heavy javascript ballast on the site I am sure.

The worst experience I am getting so far is on this article:
  http://www.ceskenoviny.cz/zpravy/francouzska-justice-obvinila-16letou-
divku-z-planovani-teroru/1379685 where scrolling is very laggy and
more or less only gets me either to the absolute top or the absolute
bottom of the article, not anywhere in the middle. Slow scrolling
  won't help the issue.

Other articles like this one http://www.ceskenoviny.cz/zpravy/ceske-
  drahy-dostaly-pokutu-150-000-kc-za-chybejici-ceniky/1380181 feels only

I've been testing this on my Meizu MX4 with rc-proposed. Maybe this is
only the device issue though I doubt it.

Is there something you can do about it?

@Olivier Tilloy: Wow, quick and awesome work :), thank you. I would
expect there are other websites affected by this behaviour based on your
observations so if this could be fixed I hope it will not only help to
resolve problems with this specific page but other sites as well.

selected language is not remembered after reboot

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Yesterday I reinstalled Ubuntu devel-proposed on my Nexus 7. In the initial
wizard I chose Czech language as a default and after that the UI really
displayed in Czech.
After a reboot, the whole system displays english texts but if I go to
settings I can see Czech language still selected. If I try to select it again,
the settings app finally switches back to Czech but upon closing it it is all
back to English. System UI persists to be in English and all apps including
settings app as well.

Originally I didn't notice that but I suspect this bug is affecting
devel-proposed for a longer period of time - like one month or so - as
I clearly remember I always selected my local language initially and
that for some time now the UI is always in English.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1477819] [NEW] selected language is not remembered after reboot

2015-07-23 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Yesterday I reinstalled Ubuntu devel-proposed on my Nexus 7. In the initial
wizard I chose Czech language as a default and after that the UI really
displayed in Czech.
After a reboot, the whole system displays english texts but if I go to settings
I can see Czech language still selected. If I try to select it again, the
settings app finally switches back to Czech but upon closing it it is all back
to English. System UI persists to be in English and all apps including settings
app as well.

Originally I didn't notice that but I suspect this bug is affecting
devel-proposed for a longer period of time - like one month or so - as I
clearly remember I always selected my local language initially and that
for some time now the UI is always in English.

** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1477674] [NEW] Support for

2015-07-23 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hi,
Google Chrome on Android introduced this nice colour feature some time ago and
I see all sites all over the world slowly adopting it, including ubuntu.com.

I already asked a question about this some time ago and I was
recommended to report a bug:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-
app/+question/267783

So the thing is to support this meta tag and change header colour accordingly. It would be a
great addition to Ubuntu and what's more, it is simple to implement.

What do you think about the idea?
Thank you very much for your opinions.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1377033] Re: [Browser] Ability to switch to the desktop mode (desktop version)

2015-07-11 Thread zubozrout
I've just noticed that on desktop Ubuntu Web Browser is now loading full
desktop sites, which is great. I expect it is just a matter of changing
useragents (although there may be more to it). On the other hand on my
tablet it is still showing mobile sites - which you may want to change
from time to time.

I suppose the default behaviour on phones and tablets should be to load
mobile sites as it is now but - could you please add a switcher in the
menu to demand for full desktop version of websites?

In addition it would be great to include a button in the bowser's
settings so that browser would permanently ask for desktop sites if user
wants it. On bigger devices that would certainly be relevant.

(and on the other hand you may want to display a mobile version of any
website on desktop for testing purposes so a vice versa would be great
as well)

What do you think? How do you think it should be implemented?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1473546] [NEW] Text selector and cursor hidden beneath keyboard

2015-07-10 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hi,
as you can see in the attached screenshot (of Telegram app) the handle for text
coursor or selector can be hidden beneath keyboard in some cases.

The possible solutions for this would be either to always show the
handles above the text so it won't ever have to intersect with the
keyboard or to somehow put it in the higher level than the actual
keyboard is, which would be I suppose harder to achieve.

What do you think? Is there any other solution you can think of?

Here it is...
Look at this event: Vyzvednout boty na Krakovské
In calendar and indicator I see the event starts at 11:30 although it should
start at 9:30 as it is in the file.

It must be that timezone is somehow not understood by calendar app.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1473068] Re: Events depending on a VTIMEZONE ical entry get wrong timezone

2015-07-10 Thread zubozrout
Hi,
I am affected by this bug as well but in my case I not only see the time wrong
in the indicator, but also in the Calendar app so I suspect the bug may be in
the Calendar app itself.

* I created an event from my Android phone
* I synced Ubuntu Calendar app
* the event is now displayed as starting 2 hours later than it actually is on
Ubuntu (I am in UTC+2).

2015-07-08 Thread zubozrout
Thanks for the info and for the link. Then I guess it is ok to close
this thread as Invalid.

Only thing that bothers me is that in the future it may be necessary to
consider adding copy to clipboard feature to the content hub as some
applications don't have address bar and yet it may be a good feature to
be able to copy a content from it (like public transport schedule or
link to a post in a social network or content aggregator app).

No, I am not talking about hovering my finger above link, but sharing

corner of the app. There is already a sharing button so it would be nice

Title:
Should Full shell rotation work in Windowed mode?

Status in Ubuntu UX bugs:
  New
Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
Although full shell rotation is currently available on devel-proposed, it
doesn't work with windowed mode and everything is locked in portrait mode.
Is there a way to enable it, to force landscape mode or a reason why this is
not available (like not yet implemented)?

Thank you very much for your answers.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1385654] [NEW] MainView's OrientationHelper: page isn't being clipped properly to accomodate the header

2014-10-25 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

I've been trying to create a simple pong game using QML and I ended up
with something working on desktop and in portrait mode on my tablet. But
when I rotate the screen, the top part of the "game board" is hidden and
overflows the screen.

I've asked for help here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/541214/how-
can-i-detect-screen-rotation-with-qml and on IRC #ubuntu-app-devel

According to DanChapman: "It looks like that could be a bug in the
MainView's OrientationHelper. It looks as though the page isn't being
clipped properly to accomodate the header so the rectangle ends up
overlaying it. You should file a bug for it (if there isn't one
already)"

Here are some pictures quickly taken with a potato:
https://plus.google.com/117415521410663758843/posts/NxtEsJV44K7

Since I am unable to find an explanation for this, I am filling this
report as I also think it is a bug.
