[translate-pootle] Pootle: terminology window covers part of input field
Hello again :) I've noticed a couple of times that when the original string is fairly wide (and some of the OOo string IDs take up a lot of space, which seems to be all they are good for), the input field is partly- covered by the terminology (Related) field. In that case, I can't click into the input field where the terminology field covers it. That part of the input field becomes inaccessible, except by clicking in the uncovered part of the input field, to the left, then using arrow-keys to move to the right, character-by-character. I have a screenshot, if that is useful. [translate-pootle] Pootle improvements and terminology
Hi everyone :) This evening I'm indulging myself by translating some OOo files on the Wordforge Pootle server. I really do notice the difference after using the older Pootle used by the CC project: with the new version, the terminology is really helpful, the double-click edit saves time, and the automatic recognition of interface language from your browser really makes you feel at home. No negative comment on CreativeCommons: I enjoyed using their Pootle, and I hope they will get as much out of the newer version as I do. :) I was impressed by the combination of the terminology file (which present suggestions based on the original string) and the search-in- file feature. Vocabulary changes and grows, and on one or two occasions, I noticed that the terminology file for my language was suggesting translations that weren't quite up-to-date (my fault, nobody else's). All I needed to do was open another tab with the terminology file, Search for that term, and I could update it. Three clicks, bar entering the string. And next time that term came up as a suggestion, it was current. I love live update. :) This brings me to a suggestion: how difficult would it be for us to _add_ to the terminology file? I haven't been editing for long this evening, but already I've noticed repeated terms which aren't covered by the terminology file, but usefully could be. For example, the terminology file covers Point and Break, but not Breakpoint, which is not exactly Point+Break. It would be terrific if we could add a term to the terminology file as easily as we can edit one. Do you think it would be viable? Just for that file: we don't want people adding original strings to PO files! Naturally, for Debian systems, that would follow The Right Process™. ;) An install script will reduce the increasing barrier created by the added dependencies and the specific setup required. I just filed a bug report this morning for this. I can bet the pootle's maintainer will do his best to have 0.10 in unstable *before* the Extremadura meeting. But the base system should have been frozen on Aug. 7th, which did not happen yet (dunno why...I actually see no reason). By the way, I think I saw somewhere that our 0.9.1 releases are now in testing. Great! Any chance to see the subsequent releases packaged? This will surely make this a lot easier for a lot of people, but I would of course prefer that our best release go into stable. I think I might release 0.10.1 in time for the freeze in ...
