Hello, has anyone successfully installed or even run 7.0 on aqemu yet? I
haven't been able to get past the installer crashing repeatedly or a black
screen when I try to run live.
TIA

You could also try spoofing your user-agent and see if that fixes the issue:

Being tracked, that is one thing.
Your privacy, that is the second thing.
Your personal security, that is the third thing.
You can't be helped before you sepparate the three. As you can be tracked,

It's all my fault.
I am looking for somebody I do not know who MIGHT have a Internet connected
router that also has the hardware ability to furnish Wifi radio signal
according to the current standards. I want somebody who has that Wifi radio
signal in the b/g/n ranges. And I hope for that
When I have read your reply I said that was it. I went ahead and found out
that they need all my credit card data, just to make sure. Obviously they
will not bill me and they are going to delete the data as soon as possible.
Only that if the sum is too small nobody would care anyway, not the
I can run the Triskel 7.0 Live CD with the qemu-system-i386 command which is
much the same thing. Sounds like you might not have defined enough virtual
machine memory. 2G is recommended for modern desktops, so that'll definitely
be plenty if you can spare it.
My English is not too good. Yet, in most places it helps. Here, no. I ask for
free webhosting and they answer me about webhosting using free software. It
would be a lot worse to point out their stupidity that they base their
answers on an advert and that they have never audited those
I think we need to move away from x86 to get a totally free laptop and even
then certain parts would probably be non-free.
I forgot to comment on this one.

Their website seems to be back. There a was a period where we couldn't access

After your great job, it seems we can already try Trisquel 7.0.
As somebody who starts from Debootstrap for me a release happens when the
repos are up.
And the repos have been up, alive, and kicking for months now :)
Now, I hope they release Netinstalls!
If I had need of finding open WiFi I'd use my Android mobile and set it to
notify me when there's one available. The OpenWLANMap app on F-droid.org
logs WiFi APs and their location as you go and has a 'find nearest open
hotspot button.' Might be better for your purposes, but I haven't used
It's still being worked on, even in the airport on the way to the talk, and
is not the final released version.
I'm trying to generate some buzz here people but whatever, detractors.
In terms of free webhosting if you talk about it in one of the rather few
sites that places a decent amount of emphasis on free as in freedom for
something which when the word free is put in front of it is often taken to
mean free-of-charge-ness, talking about anything else that's free, on
What detractors? (Hopefully you weren't referring to me!)
Do you realize that your constant haughty or even insulting (we now are
stupid?) attitude deter us from helping you? You have offended some of the
most helpful users of this forum: lembas, chris, icarolongo, myself, etc. And
I do not even remember you practically helping anybody here. At

Disassembling is allowed in the EU in specific cases, these might be
enough to write a free driver. I don't know how it's done in other
jurisdictions. People who reverse engineer firmware for other devices
do disassemble it. All firmware with free replacements has nonfree

Thank you.
I see y'all on the forum.

The thing is, it's easy to find gratis web hosts on a search engine, but you
have a lot stricter requirements, like you expect a gratis
Just to make it clear for other people, we're talking about rt2860.bin, which
is the firmware used in some PCI ralink cards including 2790, 3090 (which I
have), and 2860.
I was trying to find the architecture, so thanks for the information. After
looking online, I see that you're right

Look for the virtualization with kvm manual just leave the network
bridging part.
I believe reading some where that, as a free software supporter, I should
avoid using virtualbox (free software version). Does this has a reason? could
AQEMU be a good alternative then?
See: http://trisquel.info/en/wiki/virtualization-using-kvm
I use virt-manager.
So does that mean I will never have support? Because my wireless is fully
non-free? Or at least I think I do.
Many thanks! It was just the memory. My desktop isn't old, but I am.
$1-2k to reverse engineer the firmware? I think not. If it were that cheap
we'd have done it a long time ago. If you think you can reverse engineer the
firmware on ath10k or another 802.11ac or 802.11ad device for that amount let
me know. Heck- I'm wiling to shell out thousands of dollars
Anybody interested in hacking on a free replacement firmware should get in
touch with me. We can help fund it (parts, bounty, etc).
Reverse-engineering is possible, but don't hold your breath. If you can't
reverse-engineer it yourself, your best bet is to get a new wireless card or
USB wireless adapter that works with libre software today. Think Penguin[1]
is a good store to buy those from.

I'm not a lawyer so I'm definitely going to refrain from commenting on the
legal aspect. I think what I was trying to say is the legalities shouldn't
excuse or determine what we think.
I understand your points in any event. I don't know if they translate into

There's a minor error on the Tehnoetic product page. It says Both the driver

Does the Blackboard software run within the browser? I was under the
impression that there was something I needed to download.
Yes, I just wasn't understanding how Blackboard works; the issue has been
resolved.
Thanks guys! I'd rather buy a USB wireless adapter from Think Penguin but not
right now though :)
