Fantastic! I've added your note to the wiki page.
You mean in the NetInstaller?
There's some useful info on fingerprinting here:
https://panopticlick.eff.org/
Ubuntu 14.10 is not the same as Ubuntu 14.04. These are two completely
different releases. Trisquel is based on Ubuntu 14.04. The instructions you
linked to erroneously say Ubuntu 14.04 at one point, but they are only for
Ubuntu 14.10. (Looking at the PPA they recommend, it doesn't have any
Thanks Banana! Thats exactly what I was wondering when I installed Trisquel
via the NetInstaller. There is Triskel and Trisquel... Hard to guess
which one to choose...
I did not notice a big difference in the brightness between 3.14 and 4.0.
However now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that it was an older
version of libreboot that had problems with the screen. If the brightness is
at minimum + 2, there's no problems now. At minimum it's too dark to
i found a tutorial here for ubuntu 14 as trisquel is based on ubuntu 14 it
should work:
http://itsfoss.com/install-kde-plasma-ubuntu-1410/
but be sure to only install packages that you trust and its
best to compile form source
i also found this on the official kde site:
Compile from source: https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Building
Tomlukeywood, I'm leaning on a preference to your ls command recommendation
of 4.16. So i'm looking right now at all my home folder's folders in
terminal. One of them, MyPDA, holds my Desktop folder. Is there a
terminal command to open MyPDA then use the move command to put the Desktop
The NetInstaller provides you a truly minimal system. A working terminal. APT
is functional too. That means, you can then 'sudo apt-get install' any
package after the install. Including triskel and triskel-recommend.
Hello trsiquel community,
I have a serious problem on my laptop since autumn '14.
With my member's fsf trisquel 6.0 install USB card I created 2 more
partitions of the normal factory's HD diagram: 1) I have installed
trisquel (as I can remember) on one created partition. 2) I copied via a

Does anyone have any idea on how to load disqus comments without JavaScript?
There is triskel-recommended too if you want a whole KDE-based desktop
environment (including the applications I suggested you to choose one by
one).
Diaspora, Friendica, YouTube, Google Maps, Quitter (GNU Social), and
Reddit?
Yes, apart from Google Maps, the use of JavaScript seem trivial and generic.
They mostly use JavaScript just to load text using XMLHttpRequest() and put
it on a page (comments, posts, etc.).
An Google Maps is
Hey Guys, have any of you got tips on how to install Plasma 5.2 ?
Everything on the forums just don't work, no ppa's and no .debs.. what to do

Something to think about

mv ~/MyPDA/Desktop ~
(~ means your home folder, /home/yourusername)
Sounds easy but where do I have to run that command? I mean at what point?
Trisquel 8 won't be coming out until 2016 and it is probable that plasma 5
will be in it.
You basically want a CDN like cdnjs.com and jsDelivr, but hosting free
software only? The problem is that hosting files locally, instead of using a
CDN, usually delivers best performance and privacy (as there are less DNS
requests).
I installed it with the NetInstaller... So I coulden't choose wheter I wanted
everything or just the desktop.
Is there a way to install KDE after the initial setup?
Hello
I am have been wondering when Trisquel 8 is coming out and if it will be
possible to choose the KDE Desktop before downloading the image.
Sure is. You just need to figure out what package(s) you want. Then you can
use e.g. apt-get or aptitude to install them. Say after a netinstall with no
graphical interface selected.
Well in this case it was ubuntu custormization kit. I don't think there was
any configure file, autoconfig did not work either.
I ended up transforming it into a /deb to get it to install, but it hasn't
created a normal executable file like the other ones, they open in text editr
instead. I
I updated to jxself's linux-libre32, version 4.0.0-gnu.pae. The touchpad
seems to behave somewhat better. Two-finger scrolling used to be a very
painful experience, but now it is acceptable. I would recommend using the
latest kernel.
One more thing: three-finger tapping still does not work.
Okey thanks for the clarification. I forgot that we have to wait for the next
LTS!
Well, if you want KDE Plasma 5 sooner, you could install Parabola
GNU/Linux-libre and enable the testing repo.
It's not as user-friendly as Trisquel, so you should be kinda experienced
with the command line.
Love the intro disclaimer, good job!
PulseAudio is a solution to problems you may not have but that exist. Many
users want to send the sound produced on their systems to the speakers of
another system on the network. Alsa cannot do that. Recently, I did what is

The triskel package provides a good base (i.e., basic applications
including Abrowser and KDE applications you probably want: the Plasma
desktop, the file manager, the virtual terminal, the PDF reader, etc.). You
can then install your applications of choice (a text editor, a multimedia
Is there a way to speedup that process? Since I can't help with developing is
there something else? Fundraising?
Supose you have version (i'm making this up) 1.2 of the application named
teletubbies in your repositories and you want the latest version for some
reason, version 1.4.
When you build something usually the headaches are caused by the
dependencies. it gives you errors because you miss

cheers!
Trisquel is based on Ubuntu LTS, so no, there's no way to speed it up. It's
not physically possible to make a release based on Ubuntu 16.04 before Ubuntu
16.04 comes out (which is in 4/2016).
It's possible that more funds would make the delay between Ubuntu's releases
and Trisquel's
Thanks! I've updated the wiki page.
Besides the touchpad, was there any other change? Screen brightness, battery,
heat, 3D?

how can one make malicious code with JavaScript run in a browser?
JavaScript is a programming language, so of course it's possible to do
something malicious with it. You can only limit the capabilities of a
language so much before you start hindering its usefulness.
Fingerprinting is the
great work pizzaiolo! gonna translate it to Italian.
