Hello Kromaz.
I went with the commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
This time all the packages have been updated and were downloaded packages of
65 MB that were missing.
And when entering Update Manager, the system said that this time everything
is updated.
Thank you very
As now everything is okay with the Update Manager
Going forward I always use the commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
or
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Sorry for posting into such an old thread, but today I accidentally found
this video when searching for Blackphone on YouTube. I recall somebody have
asked why the Lavabit founder stopped using email, and this video contains
the answer:

I recently installed Trisquel on my second hard drive as my first go with a
fully installed GNU/Linux OS, and I am over all quite happy with it.
I have a few relatively non-technical questions I would like to ask however:

Are there any fan control programs you would recommend?
My fans
indicator-application and xfce4-indicator-plugin are not the same thing.
Some applications use the indicator application instead of a notification
area if the former is present.
If you want your panel to be simpler you can add the notification area to
your panel and disable indicator
Welcome to Trisquel!
To answer two of your questions:
No, chances are you won't have 3D acceleration with fully libre drivers
unless you're using something like a GeForce 8400.
Also, the best way (in my opinion) for window snapping as you described it is
to install the XFCE desktop

Actually, most NVIDIA cards are supported by Nouveau. The worst offenders are
the Maxwell series one (750/750 Ti for instance).
Cross-platform support and ease of use is a concern though.
I tried to add it to the panel, but it's greyed out and I cannot click on it
to add it.
That is because you have it already on the panel somewhere but you cannot see
it because it is empty.
I've tried to start the nm-applet manually but it didn't appear on the
original indicator.
True. But, after one finds a language that has cross-platform support, that
is easy to use, and that has lots of libraries, you have to ask the question,
how free are these tools and the community around it? That, if you care about
freedom. Otherwise, open-source may be enough for you.
I
To clarify, since no one has said this explicitly in this thread, all AMD
GPUs are basically junk. They can't do any sort of 3-D acceleration without
proprietary firmware blobs, and there isn't much of an effort, if any, to
reverse-engineer them (unlike Nvidia cards).

Dear all,
I need help and as stessed in the title I am an absolute beginner. I 've used
trisquel for some months now, but at an absolutely basic level. I basically
browse and use LbreOffice and mailing.
Until today no mayor problems, but after updating today, it's working very

I did an update through the Terminal, and it seems it's solved.
Thanks anyway
Hello there! It's hard to say what's wrong based on that. One easy solution
would be to backup your important data and reinstall. If you're unsure what
to backup, take your entire /home. If your system works badly, perhaps you
could use the live CD or USB to make the backup as well.
