I suppose it is, since it's in the / partition.
So I need a dedicated unencrypted /boot partition in that case? How come?
agreed they are very secure and are run on free software.
"I have tried using dd, which produced an ISO that I couldn't get to work
properly"
dd isn't for making an ISO. It just reads the device. It would be helpful to
know more specifics about the DVD in question. What format is it in
currently? What is the directory layout (like is there a
What command does the keyboard shortcut execute? Isn't the extension
configurable (from http://extensions.gnome.org or from the "Tweak Tool" in
the "System Settings")?
I preferred countermail.com
They use diskless servers, are not located in USA, message are encrpted, they
do not log your IP address and the strip the header on the emails.I also use
startmail but I like countermail better.
I still have not understood if your /boot is encrypted. If so, what is the
point?
How do I change the default file manager? My locations shell extension opens
up audacious instead of files. Also when I do the keyboard shortcut I created
for files it opens audacious instead too. What should I do?
There is no "Linux Trisquel". There is "Trisquel GNU/Linux", which uses the
Linux-libre kernel. See https://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html
See

for a long discussion on partitioning.
Take a look at /var/log. Everything is logged. You can use System Log Viewer
to browse the logs.

What commands or gui app can I use to achieve this?
Tox is the best alternative, it´s right what you need. you can chat through
it and do videocalls (or only voice too) and it´s for most operating
systems. Although form IM I personally recommend Kontalk (based on XMPP and
OpenPGP), but is just for android and you cannot make groups or calls.
It is based on Firefox 38.8.8 which is end of life. It should have upgraded
to the newest Firefox ESR (45.x). So there may well be security holes.
Use Abrowser or download Firefox from Mozilla instead. Also try the Tor
browser, which is also based on Firefox ESR, which is always promptly
!!!I managed to boot in my 32bits encrypted Netinstall!!!
One thing left: despite running sudo update-grub when booted, every time I
reboot, I end up in Busybox again.
So I have to go once more in grub and type this:
set prefix=(lvm/volumeGroupName-logicalVolumeName)/boot/grub
set
After reading this post and following on the link< I wonder is there any

I think they are multisession disks that have never been closed (XP didn't
have that functionality).
Hello.
A family member has some old family videos in a dvd, and I wanted to rip it
for myself. I have tried using dd, which produced an ISO that I couldn't get
to work properly (I mounted it and it was never successfully recognized as a
media DVD). Using SimpleBurn I discovered that the
Also, remember that updated kernels do not replace older ones, i.e., you
should remove by hand (e.g., using the "Synaptic package manager" in the
"System Settings", search for the "linux-*" packages) an older kernel once
you are sure that the newer one properly works.
Just for your information, I have used extundelete
http://extundelete.sourceforge.net/ successfully in the past.
Alright. I'll try doing that. Thanks.
> "sda 8:0 0 465.8G 0 disk"
You have more than enough disk-space, but:
> "sda1 8:1 0 14G 0 part /"
Indeed. The installer assigned only 14GB for /. I had this very same problem.
And the solution for me was format and make the partitions manually with the
intelligence only a human posses.
Making
df -h would be easier to read.
This is what I get:
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:00 465.8G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1014G 0 part /
├─sda2 8:20 1K 0 part
├─sda5 8:50 10.4G 0 part [SWAP]
└─sda6 8:60 441.4G 0 part /home
sr0 11:01 1024M 0 rom
Perhaps you allowed the installer do the partition table and you end up with
low disk space for /?
Please run this command and paste the output: lsblk
This way I can know if you have too little space assigned for /
I keep getting the message that I have very little disk space remaining. I
tried removing some programs I don't use from the list of installed ones, but
it won't let me remove anything when I uncheck them. Any ways to get around
this?
