Hello Everyone,
I just want to give a big Thank You for everyone who intended the 'Linux

knowing that on my side there were enterprises like RedHat, Caixa Mágica,

Hello Everyone !
For those who live near Lisbon (Portugal), there will be the annual event
dedicated to Gnu/Linux called the Event Linux 2014. This year LibreTrend
will be there, and we will have a table showing our LibreBox, which is a
great occasion to see it, touch it, and play with it
Hello jxself and onpon4,
You are right, the problem with this system is the fact that the key is sent
to the server and the possibility (if the main code is changed) to a third
party to use that key to decrypt the message using the server (or an external
function).
Has I said it is just
Hello onpon4,
I understand, but the goal of the project was to create something secure for
internet text sharing, it isn't mean to replace a Instant Messaging software
or anything similair. The goal is just to provide a more secure browser
service based on the PasteBin idea. You are right
Hello Michał Masłowski,
I didn't knew about Fragment Identifier, I'll have a look at it, thank you ;D
I didn't knew about img.bi but it seems like a good project, I was planning
on doing something similair with my project in the future adding documents,

It may be interesting indeed, I need to see if this can be useful in order to
avoid sending the key to the server itself. Thank you !
I just need to be sure that the server doesn't receive anything, but once

of websites but didn't found any useful information about it. If it is was I

Well I wanted to avoid having the user to install something, but it is true
that this could be a good idea indeed. The question here is, many people

Firefox based browsers I need to see how a user script could really help
on doing this and how it could be easily done to the final user.
The existance of this project was just to make some encryption possible using
a PasteBin like service. I understand that the key shared with the URL may
not be perfect (or secure at all), but I still think that it is possible to
create protection from here, even if the password if written by
Hello Everyone !
I want to present my first official LibreTrend project. It is something I've
been working on my spair time (a few minutes a day) so the result isn't

The concept is quite simple, it is Pastebin-like service, but with security

Hello Alexander Stephen Thomas Ross,
You are absolutely right. I've just mentioned github because it was the one I

Hello Everyone,
Just an update for those interested. I've dropped the price into 299,99€

Hello Trisq,
Thank you for your support. Indeed this is something I really need to have a
look at. With so many choices and with a lot of work I think that making
everything free shouldn't be very hard, It just depends on who makes what and
with what purpose :)
Hello ADFENO,
Thank you for all your support ! I understand what you feel and I understand

Hello tkm625,
Good question. Well for now it isn't possible to change the CPU nor the GPU.
I have plans for the future to provide a version with a changeable CPU/GPU
but for now, because of the size of the LibreBox, it is quite difficult to
make it fit everything there.
Hello Jabjabs,

Hello Lembas,
Thank you for your support :)
Yes I have to agree with you. The website is not perfect, I need to make it

I'll try to solve this as soon as possible, but I'll resolve the 404

Answering your question :

A: That is a good question. To be honest I didn't looked to much into ARM
products for two reasons :
1 - For some reason I see MIPS more close to the actual architectures of our

Hello Everyone,
I've been looking more deeply into Intel's chipsets and all of the
technologies provided. After a will I've found a lot of informations about
those bad technologies which we should (as free software users) never use,
like the vPro for example.
But my question is, what is
Thank you once again for the keep informations :D
It's actually sad (IMO) to see such a good product disappear (and this even
knowing and understanding the cause) since System76 and ZaReason are still

Just two other questions
Thank you for the proposition :D But just to know, since the webpage has been

Thank you for the answer Chris. This is actually a very bad news (at least
for me), but it is understandable. I'm just asking this because, now that I

I am just saying that we should create something unique where it is
necessary. For example, why re-create Nautilus if it work so well ? We can
just solve the problem with the new versions by following the Ubuntu example
by keeping the old Nautilus 3.2 on the 3.4 Gnome base. Why change Gnome
I've found something important. This only happens with Gnome, I've tried

(Gnome Shell, Unity and Gnome Classic).
Can this by due to a
Hi Magic Banana,
I don't see GNOME as bad, I just see a bunch of bad choices, nothing else. I
still continue to think that GNOME is the best DE in place with an excelent
base. Now with Gnome 3 we can edit the whole shell with just a couple of
Javascript lines in order to create something
Hello moorland, and before anything: Welcome to this wonderful community :D
I can be wrong but it seems to be an hardware failure. What you can do is
this :
1 - Boot Trisquel on the CD
2 - Trisquel Menu System Settings
3 - Open Disk Utility
4 - In the left side of the Disk Utility window
Hi again moorland,
Well if you are new to Gnu/Linux it is true that talking already about the
terminal can be really bad for the image. But it is a very important
administrator tool and because of this we can't (as administrators) live
without it :D - But that's not the point...

We can't use those applications without the new GTK changes. So we need to be
dependent on Gnome in order to use them (or just spend a lot of time editing

just beautiful, but they are also very buggy and too much
For the bug reporting I agree with you it need to be done. But some changes

Hi grimlok,
The Login Manager is GDM so the only things that you can (easily at least)
change is the wallpaper - and even for that simple task you will need few
terminal commands. Otherwise you can use another Login Manager like lightDM
(used in Ubuntu for example) which can provide more
So, let me see if I understood it well :

Until now this works, I can now Suspend with the pm-powersave false option
selected. Now I need to find

Just another question, where is the best place to put the initial script ? -
In order to boot with the pm-powersave false option before the GDM Window.
Since it becomes slow even at that time).
I remember working with the runlevels when I was on arch. But I never found
and easy way (as the arch way was) to do that in Debian based systems (the
same with daemons and modules), but I will eventually find out :D
Thanks for the information !
Well you can do that. You just need to download a GTK3 theme and copy it in
the /usr/share/themes folder (in order to have it for all users) or in the
~/.local/share/themes folder if you want to use it with only one account.
Hello again,
Thank you for all your help I will try that as soon as possible :D I've been

I can't vote because I'm not in the USA but I support the idea !
Just for curiosity. Have you tried the drivers I send you in the other post ?
Their are supposed to work with that printer.
Best Regards,

I don't know if it is something with the Kernel (and the drivers), but I have
the same problem (well almost). It seems to be something that happen only
with USB Hub devices (I've tested 4 different and with the same problem). It
is like they mess up with the order (or just can't organize the
That could be a good idea but I don't know how to do it. Believe if I new I

For now I only have this one and I can't sell it since I need it for the POS.
But if I have anything I will be very pleased to tell you.
Hello Everyone,
I have great news :D (More for me than anything else but still).
For those that readed the posts about this subject from me they already know
that I need a POS with certified software from the Portuguese Finances, so my
idea of a 100% Free POS was almost dead, until now !
I would personally love to do my free version of fedora, since I found Fedora
very attractif and very useful. But nowadays the real diference between
Fedora and a possible Fedora Libre version is only Firefox and the kernel (as
I don't seem to see any other change).
Personally if I would
I can be wrong but it may be a permissions problem (Ubuntu has a lot of them

Thank you for the answers. I know that it would be better to have an already
installed KDE version, unless someone just made a simple script that would
remove any gnome package and install all the kde packages and vice versa.
I'm not saying that Trisquel need to change. No distro need to change because
they all have a purpose, and an idea behind. I just wanted to see the
diversity of the answers in this specific topic.
I just say that it is funny to see how different Free distributions (even

Like a place only dedicated not to a single distribution but to all of them

That could actually be a good idea indeed and could even help a lot of
people. The FSFLA are already doing a good job on their side in my

And if you have any questions you know where we are !
(This is indeed a good way to start the year in my opinion :D New year new

People have feelings and thoughs xD You know, I am not trying to excuse
anyone, but when I firt started to use Trisquel with the strong Free Ideology
in me, I installed it (5.5) on my netbook and looked a it, beautiful, with
everything working !... Except for the Wireless xD What I did at
A little bit like everything nowadays unfortunately. But it is truth that
this is what will happen in a near futur. And to understand why we just need
to go to the streets and ask people if they use Gnu/Linux, their answer will
be normally No. Because I don't like it / (or) / No. Because I
I personally also use a lot of proprietary work (mostly on video game
consoles since I am a retro-gamer collectioner). And I will not say no, but I
just use them because I love it and because we no alternative. It is
complicated to make the big jump from a day to another. Some are working
Let's just say that we are lazy (like everyone love to talk about the Greek

Hello everyone,
I've been fallowing the very interesting post from Jodiendo about the
proprietary drivers facility vs the free software driver (non existent for

I don't know much about the subject but what I know is that, even knowing it

Hello there,
I you gave your opinion (and I respect it totally) the I will give mine if

Hi there. The last portion was just me thinking more than anything else. I

My Opinion ? Okay then if you ask me so gently :D

Quick update on the situation.
I finally made my choice a few weeks ago and bought a Star Micronics TSP600
which is perfect ! .. Well... almost. I've bought the Serial version of the
device, and there is no Gnu/Linux drivers for this version, only for the USB
version and the Ethernet
This is an old problem from the Ubuntu installation, that sees the Usb Stick
as a Hard Drive and install Grub on it.
So people need to see (until it is corrected) if the selected boot partition
(on the partitioning page) is set to the hard drive and not to the usb stick.
Just one question,
Hello Everyone,
This question may have been already asked but I since I couldn't find it I
will post (again ?).
In Trisquel 5.5, for me, the big thing missing was the native support for
Compiz. But after some searching I've found that it could be achieved simply
by installing and
Hi there,
No. This was what I wanted on Trisquel 5.5 but I've solved it out quite
easily. What I want on Trisquel 6.0 is to load without Compiz (since there is
no Gnome Classic (No Effects) option.
Just by curiosity. I've had a look at the
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse sources from Ubuntu 12.04 (base of
Trisquel 6.0) and it seems to be 100% GPLv2 (at least I don't see any other
license reference or license itself).
So, and if I understand right, the only change that needs to
It seems that the problem only occurs with Gnome and not with any other DE.
But, does someone know where I can find the image of Triskel 6.0 ? I would
like to install it from scratch instead of downloading it from a current
Trisquel 6.0 installation.
One of the things that have been forgoton since the first release of Trisquel
6.0, and is also silly if you think about it, is the Use Only Free Software
on the grub menu... I'm wondering what it does to the Trisquel
installation...
Some bugs still need to be solved. The problem is when
Hello again,
Is there a way to see what happens when the charger is plugged in and puggled
out ?
I want to know what happens in order to try to solve the problem (or disable
it). Because I am forced to use Ubuntu 12.10 - Only Free Software - in my
laptop since it is the only one without
Yes they are enable. This problem seems to have appeared since Firefox 17 or
Ubuntu 12.04 since even on Ubuntu 12.10 the problem is here (at least with
the nouveau drivers.. I won't try with the proprietary drivers as you may
imagine).
Need to search a little bit more about this to see if
I really feel stupid when this happen... xD I use to go to that directory
every day when i had my Optimus Laptop (in order to manage, control, and test
the power management with the nvidia activated), but I forgot about it xD
Thank you :D I will see if I get any luck.
PS: I am crossing
Thank you once again ! That was the problem :D
Running pm-powersave to false solved the problem. Now that I know where
the problem is comming from I will try to see how to solve it.
Hello everyone,
I've been testing Trisquel 5.5 and Trisquel 6.0 to see what of the two will
be better for my daily use on my laptop (since my desktop doesn't have any
problem with the 2, I am using Trisquel 6.0 on it) because of the Sound
Problem on Trisquel 5.5 and the Slow Problem
I've found that it is related to the Slow problem (because of the nouveau
driver). I've tested with compiz and firefox is slow, mutter from Gnome3 it
is the same, but without any composite (like while using openbox) or the
nomodeset enable, this problems don't occur and firefox is fast
It will not fix the issue since the issue is on the Kernel side where the
drivers have been removed because of their lack of quality (funny to know
that they have not been removed from Parabola).
I am telling this because I've never been able to install or use any
Virtualbox (Free or not Free) under Trisquel 5.5 or Trisquel 6.0 always
because of the same error while the module was compiling (from the Trisquel
servers or from the Oracle's website).
When I searched for the answers
Trisquel 6 has still a lot of issues unsolved (and not related to Ubuntu)
that need to be solved.
Other than that I am quite sad to see the non invisible bar like the 5.5
release (but I didn't found a solution myself to this).
I have the NV92 models (9600M GT and 9800GT) and I have to admit that they
work perfectly under only Free Drivers (Nouveau of course)... Even if the
performance aren't at the same level as the Proprietary ones (and I don't
mind that), they are more stable and more painless tu use and this is
