@elayer12: Also, taskbar is called GNOME Panel in Trisquel.
Nope, unless you manually increase the scaling factor. However, this feature
will be very likely available in future releases of Trisquel as different
desktop environments are making progress on this.
> The advantage of vector based formats is that their quality remains
regardless of their size.
This is not completely true. Overly detailed images will likely going to look
blurry at small scales, while less detailed images are simply going to look
bad at bigger sizes.
> I cannot
Optimizations are mostly needed for very small icons when there's only a
limited amount of pixels to use, however, more details can be added at larger
sizes (up to 512x512 pixels). Vector icons are NOT the type of
one-size-fits-all. They look good within a range of sizes they were designed
This isn't about that I don't like vector graphics formats (I prefer SVG
whenever I can!), it's just that working with them (in Inkscape) is
impossibly hard, and totally user-unfriendly (far worse than using GIMP).
That, and because I usually use raster images as source when creating or
Actually, MATE with Icedove (Thunderbird) and Enigmail is the way to go. d;)
I don't understand your question. What do you mean by "what is the

@OP: Evolution is a part of Gnome and cannot be removed completely. What you
can do is to open Synaptic and search for term "evolution", then try to
remove packages related to it, one-by-one. That was my technic I used back on
Trisquel 4.0 to get rid of it.
Also, the GUI based solution for adding an existing icon to your launcher is
by using the Main Menu tool (alacarte). You can access it by right-clicking
on the Trisquel icon (Applications), or through System Settings. Then follow:
select your launcher → Properties → click on the icon

PNG is the preferred format, however, several others such as BMP, GIF, ICO,
SVG, XPM are also accepted. Application icons showed in Main Menu are of
24x24 pixels, so you'll have to make sure that the icon will be "readable" at
this size.
Vector based formats are the preferred choice when designing and optimizing
an icon (set) for a specific target dimension (e.g. 24x24 pixels), but in the
latter choice, the display quality will regardless stay the same. However,
you're right about preferring SVG(Z) since this would involve
OK. (sorry for the delay)
Finally, I'm in the stage where my changes are fully working. There's one
important thing left to do before they will be usable. I would like to know

VirtualBox is under GPLv2, besides the Extension Pack which is under PUEL.
The main problem with it is that some parts require non-free compilers,
tools, and operating systems to be built. I'm not using these parts so this
doesn't affect me.
The error message is telling you that there's not enough free space on the

Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Thanks, this'll sure come handy. I'm gonna test it right away.
On the subject, do you also know how to redirect the output of which

I'm using the older code from before the developers rewrote it for Open

VirtualBox currently has.
While I'm sure you (and other people here) are interested to know the details
about this, I decided that I would rather not initiate a discussion about
this until the time comes. Hopefully, it will be soon.
GParted can wipe the existing partitions off your hard drive. Just create a
bootable DVD/USB from the downloadable Trisquel ISO image, then boot into the
live environment. From there you can find it under System Settings.
I only mentioned the relevant message there (see the attached screenshot

I understood that part, I just don't understand C++ yet. The main problem is
that I'm unable to test the changed code before the compilation, only after.
Together this means that it's very difficult for me to work on the code.
I replaced #define with bool as suggested (note: why this doesn't work?)

VirtualBox 5.0.4 has a fix for Linux 4.2 so you might just try and check it

You have to download the official package from https://jitsi.org/. The last

I tested Baidu Pan, and the upload speed (using BCloud) was ~180kB/s, while
the download (using JDownloader) was 1-2MB/s. However, as
I just discovered why was the download speed so slow. I used the Copy Link

Thanks for the tip. I'm still in the phase when I'm just toying with various
cloud storage providers and trying to find a reliable way to do this for
free. However, if I have to pay for the storage, I'll rather buy the hardware
by myself than paying a monthly rental fee, that's for sure.
This is a little off-topic question, but I'll explain it below. Currently I'm
trying various cloud storage services (ideally, I would like to create an
encrypted webdisk that I can access through WebDAV using Nautilus/Files) to
replace my 50 GB Mediafire account. I've already managed to get
I know, I'm already using ownCloud with OpenMailBox, but it only has 1GB of
free storage. I'm searching a way to get more without the need of building a
NAS (low security as hard drives tend to wear out after few years of use) or
paying for cloud storage (don't like monthly payments).
I'm feeling your sarcasm here, but who cares if I'm going to encrypt all my
uploaded files?
Also, what's the difference when using an ownCloud based service? That
doesn't give me anything more security-wise.
I just want to test the service. Is there something bad with that?
Also, AFAIK they're using data deduplication to offer that much space.
Buying a computer with Windows preinstalled is the worst thing you can do,
because you'll directly support a company that takes away your freedom. If
you want a truly free software compatible laptop, there is the Libreboot
X200. You'll never find another laptop to better spend money on.
Ah, ok. :) But that's too much hassle especially as there's no good way to
check for filesystem errors like on Windows. I've lost all my data once using
fsck, and I'm having a bad luck with hard drives dying too soon. I'm simply
more comfortable and safe backing up my data to multiple online

I know that the title cloud storage is misleading, but I don't know what's
the correct term to use. I personally prefer something like webdisk, web

That would be hypocrisy. I experienced people on this forum who can't stand
to use a small piece of non-free blob without a sharp critique, but they
seems to be fine with using Windows in dual-boot on their computers. It's
very hard to conform to all the Biblical laws, country laws, and

The repository above contains the non-free FDK AAC (the new FAAC!) library,

fact that it was manually enabled during compilation. Also, the maintainer

Thank you, I wasn't aware about this. I've read somewhere that it's not free

I can think of these:
- Trisquel doesn't promote the use of non-free software; Debian does.
- Ubuntu-based distributions, such as Trisquel, are more widely supported in
the non-free world due to its popularity and widespread adoption. It's worth
to note that .deb packages are not always

Well I guess the problem is in the buggy desktop environment Trisquel uses
since I also had problems with tray icons. Try to create a bug report and see
if someone will be able to fix this. There are also different desktop
environments that you may try.
You don't have to verbally offend me just because I'm speaking from
experience and haven't searched online for an answer. Yes, it looks like the
problem is upstream, however, ever since Gnome Fallback turned default in
Trisquel, the Indicator Applet _has_ problems like this (i.e.
From what leny2010 pointed out, you should rather urge this problem upstream.
If that doesn't help, you can also try MATE desktop environment (Gnome 2

I already know that most of these issues can be solved just by searching for
