Anyway, what version of Debian are you using? Oh, and another (and unrelated) thing: Free Software as defined according to the 4 freedoms isn't about how a project is governed.

Surely you meant Jaunty/Karmic/Lucid/Maverick/Natty/Oneiric/Precise/Quantal (after which, or maybe after Precise? it became clear they were moving to Debian)/Wheezy?

'Debian is neither the oldest distro' But the oldest one with a significant userbase. 'nor the sole domain of freedom loving developers.' That depends on what you call 'freedom loving'. However, it is the only big distro which can be used in freedom, offering a 100% free repository.

To be awfully, annoyingly (sorry) exact GnewSense pretty much counts as a copy of one of its editions and Trisquel not too far from being that, and Arch (to which Parabola is tagged in very much the same way, I think) isn't exactly small.:)

Yes, I do realise that (which is why I wrote sorry - because of how rather pointless the rest of the post was going to be :) Anyway, install the your-freedom package and I reckon Arch can be used in freedom. And, personally, I count free 'clones' of big distros effectively as big as (and

Well, I reccommend Gnewsense or Parabola, rather than Debian. Debian isn't the worst thing ever, at least. It has a non-free repository, though, so be cautious.

Well, Parabola'supdates come a wee bit often. And if you want Debian 7 you can't go for GnewSense...(when will they start their Wheezy-based version?)

Hi, I left Trisquel. I had been constantly using Trisquel since version 5.0 as my primary operating system but now I feel that it is not my type. My conclusion was that users have no power and everything is done in background. Linux and GNU have thought me that we should *develop together*
