I think you would be very fortunate to pursue such idea. In fact I also feel
the lack of such as a board purely dedicated to the free-software community.
I imagine it would be very nice to create one using a mix of what the
Trisquel forum is with somewhat of a normal image board like 8ch is.
Hi alimiracle - yes, great idea! As I was saying in this thread, I really
feel like the free software community is lacking a central discussion hub,
where new and existing ideas can be discussed openly and people who are new

Does ConnochaetOS have ShitstemD?
Try to understand what we are explaining to you. JavaScript is a programming
language. A program written in that language can be free software or
proprietary software. It can even be both if it is released under two
different licenses! The same holds for any other programming language:
From my searching I am not sure if it is related to the kernel or not. This
is why I suggested trying out the live CD of Trisquel 8, since it will also
include updated versions of the bluetooth user space programs too.
You can install a recent Linux-libre kernel and see if it has a free firmware
for your chipset: https://jxself.org/linux-libre/
It may well be that no free firmware for it exists.
It would be interesting to try running Trisquel 8 from a CD/USB
stick/something like that and see if there is a difference. An ISO can be
downloaded from http://jenkins.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/

Startpage appears to be fully functional without JavaScript. Cool!
If you are new to GNU/Linux it is easy to be confused about the difference
between the operating system and the desktop environment, because Window$ and
macOS don't offer multiple desktop environments. You can think of the DE as
the graphical interface over the underlying OS.

YouTube's JavaScript is also non-free.

With the menu "File/Open..." or with Ctrl+O.
I tried alt+F2, but that didn't work. The screen was all semi-frozen, I could

Minitube no longer works unless it is compiled with a Google API key that you
can only get with a Google account and would presumably identify you to
Google every time you watch a video with your build.
If you have a 64-bit machine with Debian or Trisquel you could try the

What's the point going to Youtube? I dunno. You decide. I gave an option to
watch it out of the browser and download, all on your own volition. I thought
you had trouble watching vids.

I mean JavaScript programs can be proprietary software. Or not. JavaScript
is a programming language. You can write proprietary software in it. Or
free software: https://www.gnu.org/software/librejs/free-your-javascript.html
Now that you have a Macbook Pro 9,1, you could test it thoroughly on Trisquel
7 Gnome default DE and report what works out of the box with free/libre
software -- and which functionality needs proprietary drivers.

This site here says bluetooth 4.0

But I don't know if that's the name of the chip, or just a category of some
sort.
"Normal" probably depends. What sort of bluetooth chip is it? I imagine that
lsusb or lspci will provide some basic info. Finding the make & model can
help in figuring out if it's not working because it needs proprietary junk in
order to work (which Trisquel doesn't provide.)
I am using Trisquel Mini with a MacBook Pro 9.1 and tried the application

I didn't quite understand what you meant by your text session tips. I tried

The JavaScript can be proprietary software.

Sought in the Trisquell Install/Remove menu, found the desktop

If you use StartPage.com , do a search by video and there is a copy link option
on any video you click on. Paste that link in and your golden. No need to go to
Youtube.

I could enter ctrl+alt+F1, but when I got there it was just ouputting lines

Those lines are errors that must have been written in /var/log/syslog. They
may be informative. On the contrary, reinstalling at every problem does not

Search, right-click get URL (link location). Or Youtube video, copy link.
Basically, just like you would find any other URL or website.
Cool! Both of those methods worked like a charm :)
Only problem with this method is, how do I browse to know what url I want ?
:P
Go with the default Trisquel DE.
Install mpv
sudo apt install mpv
Then launch mvp with URL (links to a Trisquel video on Youtube)
mpv https://youtu.be/tIecaLF_-x4
Or install youtube-dl.
sudo apt install youtube-dl
And download most videos.
youtube-dl https://youtu.be/tIecaLF_-x4
Thank you anyway for all the help and guidance, much appreciated!:)
I tried copying the url into the "open network stream" in vlc, and then I got

to "check verification" or something and "abort". And then only the
