I think I've figured it out, based on this.
https://salsa.debian.org/rust-team/rust/blob/debian/sid/debian/README.source#L69
After reading jxself's comment here,[1] I decided to take a stab at
writing a package helper to rebrand Rust.
I got as far as a find-and-replace from "rust" to "alanguage" in
file/directory names and file contents.[2] (This isn't actually proper.
Some of the replacements are part of things like

Debian 10's default kernel is 4.19, whereas Trisquel 8's is 4.4. It's
possible that your hardware is better supported by the newer kernel.
Trisquel's repository has a

They probably won't drop debs entirely. The base system, maybe things
like desktop environments too, will likely still be based on Debian.

But hardly an unbiased one, considering that this article was published
by Canonical. One important difference that the article leaves out is
that any developer, distro, or individual can create an apt repository
and decide what goes in it, whereas there is only one Snap
> I'm not adding Gnome to it just to try one sound applet.
You shouldn't have to. According to the README[1] it provides both an
indicator and a systray applet, which means that it is desktop-agnostic.
I'm not sure why GNUser wasn't able to get it working (I'll see if I can
figure it out later),
Okay, I installed it in Trisquel 9 (should work/fail just as well in Trisquel
8, or Debian which is what I think andyprough uses). The indicator works when

indicator works.

I don't know I'd go so far as to say "bad faith." Their goals are often

According to this answer,[1] the Ubuntu 16.04 installer works in this
situation. Since Trisquel 8 is based on Ubuntu 16.04, the Trisquel 8

The only thing that looks off to me (apart from the capital "S" in
