I did the system update, which included Abrowser 72.0.1, and now Abrowser
doesn't load.
When running from a command line it says:

Any help would be great. I really need my browser.
I made a bug report as well under the issue tracker.
Thanks,
Yeah, the people jumping at the chance to throw RMS under the bus is worrying
me. I dislike his stances on many things, and think that he is very
anti-freedom on a lot of issues. But as for software, I look at him as kinda
like a founding father. I'm worried that with statements like "RMS

Considering what Micro$oft has been doing to "Linux" lately through their
"Micro$oft loves Linux" campaign, their takeover of Github and the Linux

help in legitimizing Micro$oft anymore than it has been done in the

I think what John is running into is the UEFI Bios. With most Win10 machines
these days there aren't any prompts for BIOS setup. You usually see the

You usually have to be really quick with the setup key press. Once you

I periodically clear out linux-headers because they seem to pile up and fill
up my root volume. This leads to me getting disk space errors. I have a
nice command that wipes out all prior headers except for the one currently
being used.
I took the opportunity to do a Trisquel 8 upgrade on a new laptop I
received from work. It is a Dell Latitude E5570. I originally installed
Trisquel 7 after adding in a new internal wifi adapter. Knowing that it
worked well with that version of the OS, I decided to go ahead and run

That needs the kernel headers too:

I will give that a go. Thanks Mangy!
Is there something other than VirtualBox? Unfortunately I need to use it to

It's the kernel header files I guess. VirtualBox uses them to interface with

Hey all,
I was wondering where I could pick up the kernel headers for the newest
iterations of the linux-libre kernel. I used to be able to get it by using
this command: sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` but it says
they are nowhere to be found. The reason for doing
I too have not run into any Dell laptops yet that don't allow you to change

The fact that it's based off of Google's Chrummium Browser is enough for me

Looks like Scroogle's surveillance Crummy OS. Of course it is simple, and
people may enjoy that. I would vote XFCE, it's what I have installed on all
instances of Trisquel for Windows users, and they seem to like it just fine.
I use Whiskermenu though instead of the standard one for a

Wouldn't it be cool to have a CDE-based Trisquel!? I wonder how to go about

I really like the look of it. I love the nice crisp and clear non-smoothed

Bummer, I thought you got it working in Trisquel! I tried doing it a while
back, but just couldn't seem to make it happen. I really enjoy retro desktop
enviroments and I wanted something that was more of a retro GNU/Linux desktop
rather than just making a Windows 95 clone like I have now.
I think this old package argument is just silly. If the operating system can
do everything you need it to do, and if it is being kept secure, then there
really isn't a problem. And since GNU/Linux is awesome, a lot of times you
can just update the stuff you need updated manually.
I don't think ChromeOS is a good example of freedom.
I have the most recent version installed.
I have to do those commands every time I update my kernel.

This setting will do it. I usually set it to 120 for high resolution screens,
but that's usually up to 1920X1080.
I can confirm that this doesn't work on at least a Dell Latitude E5400.
I tried to consider things and make it as easy of a transition as possible.
So I canned the Gnome-Fallback that Trisquel comes with, not because it's not
easy, but because certain things are not easy. Like making a link to a
program on the desktop. I instead went with an XFCE environment,

Hey all,
I just ran an apt-get update on a friends laptop and when it restarted
it seems to be booting ok, gets to the grub screen where you can select

Agreed. Also, since a switch from Win7 to Win10 is a complete change in user
interface there really isn't as much excuse for people not to try it.
So, my Mom called me the other day and said she wanted me to clear out her
computer and get rid of Windows to put GNU/Linux on it. She said she was
tired of all the pop-ups and things asking her to get Windows 10 and
what-not.
Oh and she says it's so much faster than Microsloth ;)
UPDATE: I plugged it in and set it up but was having trouble with getting
her printer to work because the version of HPLIP was too old for it. I tried
updating HPLIP but there was a dependency that the Trisquel repositories did
not have pertaining to SMTP... To make a long story short, I
Don't be too hasty to believe Google and Apple on their stances either. Eric

What I don't understand is why Snowden is backing Apple on this. Apple was
clearly part of the PRISM program. The documentation proved that. I think

Hello all,
It's that time of year again, and I was looking for a GNU/Linux program

David,
xubuntu uses xfce as it's Desktop Environment/Window Manager. So all
you would have to do is install xfce and that should get you where you want
to be.
I run xfce instead of the default myself because it is much more
customizable.

I'm sure that if MS embraces GNU/Linux, it would only be to undermine the
Free Software Community.
Bill Gates is a disgusting eugenicist who wants to take opportunity away from
future generations through things like Common Core, and uses his wealth and
influence to do it.
That is the definition of evil. So, yes he IS bad, to put it mildly.

Thanks again for the tip-off on this, it's great! I changed the snowflakes
