Oh, I didn't know it was available in the repos :)
Anyway, I get the same massages that you get when starting it on terminal but
it's working fine on my pc:
ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear
ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM
It just doesn't open. I will try to have a look at the logs when I get the
patient to do so :P
I thank you for your help, and if I get this solved I will get back to you as
your file worked or not.
I installed it from the repos, it should work and install all dependencies on
its own... right?
Thanks, that was an excellent read-- before reading, I was on the fence about
NC licenses. Now, I'm not.
Performous is not working in Trisquel 7 :(
I downloaded the file you provided and installed Performous to try it, but it
fails to launch!
It used to work ok with Debian whezzy :(
It gives me error similar to this:
ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear
ALSA
I compiled Performous master in my computer and is working fine. Maybe there
is a dependency you haven't installed? Did you compile from source too?
I follow the instructions form here:

Maybe installing the
Try this one. I'm pretty sure it would work since Performous website says it
is compatible with fofix songs and more.

If so, the following user has a lot of rock band games that have lyrics and a

I honestly have no idea. But if you have a file that you want me to test I
will gladly report it back to you :)
Isn't Performous a little bit like fofix (frets on fire)? If so, I've been
working on some songs for fofix with lyrics. I've been using guitar pro taps
and EOF (editor on fire) 1.8 to get the tones and lyrics right. EOF 1.8 as a
new function called "Import GP style lyric text"
lembas: let me see. You criticize a free software addon because in the
description it talks about open source? That I can understand I guess. But,
to clarify, you **refuse** to use an addon that is free software just because
in the description there is the word "opensource"?

I never said so.
To be honest I don't mind at the moment using copyrighted songs as it is a
familiar use.
But regarding your points, yes I agree that "entertainment" works should be
accepted in a NC license.
Anyway, does anyone plays it, and care to share a few songs? If we could find
a host would be
Sounds like there could be a place for a free song repository, using free
formats which can work not just Performous, but any other UltraStar forks
that are still active, and any other libre karaoke game anyone decides to
make. Copyright issues would have to be considered, but maybe focus on
Can't enjoy, it talks about "open source"... something Stallman has never
proposed.

LoooL, what it is? what it does?
you click on it and it plays a audio file of rms singing the free software
song
Yup, also the silhouette graphic of Stallman that makes him look like a bit
like Che Guevara. Now Che is a hero of mine, but the graphic makes an implied
propaganda claim that Stallman is some kind of "communist", which would be
fine with me, but it's just not true. So that, along with the
I believe I gave a perfectly legitimate reason in my original reply.
There is an ongoing dispute, as mentioned by ADFENO, about whether
non-functional data under non-free licenses create any ethical problems or
not. Stallman and the FSF seem to think they don't. Debian project seems to
Banana nailed it.
lembas: I haven't install it because I like to keep the minimum amount of
addons in my browser. The addon is free software. What exactly are you
talking about?
Does anyone here play Performous?
If so, would you guys like to share/trade songs with the time file already
included?
I like to play it with my girlfriend, but it's a pain always having to go and
get the times for a song, get a mp3 file that actually fits the times...
