I assume you have an ATI GPU. Yes, it will work. The libre kernel has a patch
that fixes the resolution. Debian's kernel is deblobbed but it doesn't
contain this patch. So, yes, install the libre kernel jxself packages.

H-node says that a cretin hardware is free-software compatible, they actually
referring to compatibility with then Linux kernel, not

you the proprietary firmware **required** by ATI for video acceleration, so
your GPU will basically stay a superhot and extremely slow furnace.

Xpress 1100), because it only gives my two resolutions, 800 x 600 and 1024 x
768, along with a very bad refresh rate that hurts my eyes every time I look

It works in gNewSense because gNewSense uses a much older kernel. Recent
versions of Linux stopped working at native resolution with Radeon GPUs
blob-free because of some kind of code simplification that took place. I'm
not familiar with Linux or the Radeon driver, so I don't know the

Have you tried selecting your resolution using the Display control in the
System Settings?
If that doesn't work, you could try installing the Resolution Switcher
application. Its in Add/Remove Applications, search for resolution.

About removing my nVidia card, that's not possible. I need to use it on this
computer (I have Windows and GNU/Linux in the same one). Before anyone says
something, I need to use Windows, my work is on

AMD Radeon and third with Nvidia GeForce. Everything with free software, I
don't compromise. All of them are usable, even in the case of AMD's Radeon,
which does not have any 3D acceleration.
