A fair point… perhaps local or regional station might be more appropriate
terminology, though I suppose the question is moot since it’s now a sports
betting format.

Not sure I would use the term “community radio station” to describe a
commercial radio station owned by a major media corporation - “community radio”
has a specific meaning, which does not describe KGO, under any format:

Three new episodes have been posted so far, two are television related. I
talked to This Old House host Kevin O’Connor, and I talked to writer Mike
Reiss about everything from Johnny Carson and Garry Shandling to The
Simpsons and The Critic.
The debate over whether baseball is more boring than soccer is only
slightly less boring than baseball and soccer.
But I watch cycling. So there’s that.

Right. But my clarification is that I was not attempting to change his
mind. Just observing that I had changed my mind, but totally understand why
people find soccer excruciatingly boring.
But, as my wife constantly reminds me, there really is no need for me to
express every thought that passes
I hope I didn't come across as saying that those who enjoy soccer are wrong to
do so. I do not understand the game and see no reason to increase my knowledge.
Some people find baseball boring. I don't. Many find basketball and soccer
exciting. I find them tedious. I'm not wrong and neither are
I’m not looking to place blame. I’ve known Dave long enough to know you
won’t change his mind and FIFA isn’t going to change the rules to try and
get those people to like the game.

Well, sure. Daddy Zaz wouldn't want some hapless Discovery viewer tuning
in thinking its a reality show about an fix-it shop in the Hawaiian islands
or something.

Maybe it's time to bring Michigan J. Frog out of retirement and use him as
a brand ambassador? (Although maybe make him a little less of a stereotype
than the WB did back in the day...)

I was convinced they'd just go with "HBO Discovery" or "Discovery HBO" -
simply on the basis of brand recognition alone.
While I'm sure someone somewhere has done some research that says that HBO
is considered too premium/male/old-skewing for some consumers, I'm not sure
I'd buy that. It just
To clarify, I would never do that, having suffered through literally
decades of being harangued by friends to fall in love with both soccer and
hockey. Simply testifying to the fact that, while three intentionally
attempts to get it on with ice hockey have failed, I am on the verge now

So I have heard different takes on this; those who are saying Zas is
getting rid of HBO are, I think, clearly wrong. HBO will still exist as a
premium cable channel that can also be streamed, but the name HBO will no
longer be included in Warner Brothers Discovery Streaming Hub site, which

In the long history of this group we have never told each other which
sports to like or dislike and I hope we’re not starting now.
I remember growing up with the same disdain for soccer. In 1982 I
accidentally came across a daily World Cup wrap up on the local PBS
station. Brazil had a legendary
I agree with #1 but I stopped reading the list when I got to #2. I am a
devoted watcher but for a critic’s list this was the equivalent of doing a
list of best restaurants and making Dunkin’ #2 because the writer likes
doughnuts.
