Smith's two modern predecessors have managed to keep working. Tennant's been
busy in the U.K., and Eccleston went from Who to Heroes, and on to seventh lead
in a couple of major motion pictures. Eccleston won't even be in the 50th
Anniversary special, apparently mutually agreeable terms
Look out for Broadchurch on BBC America this summer. It's in the running
for the best thing I've seen on TV this year (up with The Fall and Utopia).
Tennant leads in that.
He's also just starred in the three-part Politician's Husband (much less
good in my view). So his career is going fine.

I'll probably open up a can of worms by suggesting this, but if memory
serves (and I admit I'm not a large Who fan), the previous Doctors haven't
exactly gone onto bigger and better things, have they? I've seen them in

As a child, I was amazed to find out that in real life Jean Stapleton did
not talk with a nasaly voice and was actually quite intelligent. It was
kind of a revelation into what acting means.

Sorry to hear this news - like most others I was a big fan of her work on
AITF.
But I must admit I would have lost $20 on her in a Dead-or-Not-Dead bet
before yesterday...

Opinions may vary on that one. I found him adequate at best.

So, if a long term reader of tvbarn was to get a work trip to NYC in the
middle of June, and the work office was on Broadway near times square, what
shoukd I try to do or see in the evenings?
Still can't believe this trip might happen :-)
I spent the winter in Saskatchewan :-)

Hmmm. The lead actor in a show where the lead character can change their
appearance offers an it's me or him ultimatum? This doesn't sound like
negotiating from a position of strength -- or intelligence.
The only way he can change his appearance
Depending on what side of Times Square, you'd be not far from the Ed Sullivan

Grab a copy of Time Out NY in the airport and skim it on your way to

Lucky you.
I was just wondering if I could do a one or two-day trip this month to catch
both the Bette Midler and Tom Hanks shows. Don't see how I'm gonna do it.
But you could.

Skip Midler and Hanks and try to score a ticket for Pippin. If you like
musical even in the slightest, you won't be disappointed. And Andrea Martin is
amazing. (Music Box Theater on 45th)

Tennant was also the second lead in the recent Fright Night remake, which was
better than I expected.

No no no no!
Pippin was the first Broadway musical I saw -- my freshman year of college I
visited my relatives in New York and they were so good to me -- took me
everywhere I requested -- tour of the UN, West Point, Greenwich Village, and
a Broadway musical. I've seen tons of musicals since then
