Another tidbit I saw on twitter. At one of the Canadian airports on the
weekend a flight was overbooked (as often occurrs) and they announced
that a few people needed to get to Humboldt due to the tragedy. The desk
INSTANTLY had a lineup of volunteers to give up their seats.

thanks for mentioning We Are Marshall. I have yet to see that movie, but
appreciate the correlation to this week's events.

I will admit, that during the vigil it was remarkably sad. I'm not a
(very? faintly?) religious person, but I appreciated how they included many
faiths including aboriginal.

Another (imperfect) parallel could be minor-league baseball.

While my brother and his ballpark friends don’t billet the upper-teens and
20-somethings who make up the roster of our hometown West Virginia Power (low-A
Pirates), they do provide the players with local acclimatization and road-trip
snacks.

2018-04-09 Thread PGage
Thanks for posting that here Doug; I have been following it all weekend,
and it has been heartbreaking. The loss of the young people is horrific of
course; the way Canadians are responding is even more heart rending. There
is a mournful undertone of how could something they love so much be in any
way associated with taking away their children.

HS football probably is close, especially if you live in Texas. But we may
not have a really good approximation...
