Re: [twsocket] Should next ICS version support anything, before Delphi XE ?
Hello, And while I'm at it, I use Delphi 7 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine with 16gig ram and have no plans at all to use Delphi XE. So count my vote as keeping full support for Delphi 7. I just don't like the look and feel of Delphi XE. I own it, but never use it. WHat's wrong with the Look and Feel of XE? I guess you already know that you can have a classic undocked layout by selecting the proper layout from the combo in the upper right and that there's also some way (forgott how it works since I'm happy enough with the new layout) to get back the old component palette, or at least a nearly 100% replacement which works like the original. About restricting new versions to newer Delphi versions: I'd be ok with D2009+ since that's the Unicode break and the start of generics introduction. I'm not sure about which new language features Francois thinks which aren't in D2009 already. Hey... Still maintain some stuff in D2007 with ICS. All new development in XE2. Bug fixes are fine for older D2007, so don't care about new development with D2007. Hi Still on Delphi 7. My app uses DBISAM v3 from ElevateSoft and Delphi 7 is the last Delphi supported. To go to DelphiAnythingNewer I have to go to DBISAM v4 or ElevateDB - both of these options have substantial work involved for little visible advantage to the user, so for them moment I'm doing the user stuff and sticking with D7. ICS V5 is working well for me.
