Even with globally catalogued the old version is only flushed once no processes
are using it - so if you have a busy subroutine it is probably not flushed
until your system is idle

Does that mean that a user in that programme will get the new version of the
programme immediately or that when they come out and go back in to it they get
the new version?

Some Anti-Virus software still hogs your system even if you disable it - you
need to *REMOVE*.
Feel free to email me directly me for names and pack drill offline (not
wanting to offend the guilty etc).
If in doubt: remove and reboot. If the problem goes away then job done..

Looking for some documentation on filepeek. In particular not just the
commands, but any example of usage. In particular usage with dynamic files
and 64bit files. Of course, if somone's just got the commands that would be
a great start.
Thanks in advance.

Just a caution: VISTA Service Pack 1 is a huge beast. It's currently on
voluntary download only (around 600Mb I think) and will be in Windows
Update shortly.
Any experience of SP1 out there?
There have been various warnings about some program compatibilities and also
device drivers.

Eric,
I don't know that filepeek was ever officially documented - if
you enter ? you get a one-page synopsis of commands, some of which may
not work depending upon release. As far as I know, to use filepeek with
dynamic files you must target the individual parts - i.e. the data and
wIntegrate, Dynamic Connect, and UniAdmin all work, no problems seen.

Roger,
It has in fact been expertly concealed in the PDF manuals, although of
course not in the table of contents, although if you look in the right
place they are in some but by no means all of the INDEXes.
The Adobe Reader 'Search' function will, however find the ENCODE
function for you.
:-(
It is documented in UniVerse BASIC Command Reference Guide
(BasicRef.pdf), even prior to 10.2. See ENCODE function page 232 in
the manual Version 10.1 September, 2005 (not sure in the 10.2 version
what page).
LOTS of commands don't exist in the online help. IBM recently advised a
new online help
Oh yeah, got to love that. It didn't even make into the index, let alone
the table of contents (of the PDF). How did they manage that?

There are some examples in the IBM training class (I think it's called UniVerse
Theory and Practice - anyway, the old internals class).
