Kevin,
We have been running Unidata and Universe on a Windows 2008 virtual server
for almost a year. You will need lots of memory and a new processor to
handle the virtualization. The installation of Unidata and Universe was a
breeze. As a matter of fact we crashed our virtual servers, not

This is a mystery upon which I'm hoping this list can shed some light.

Hello,
When deploying web services which use UODOTNET.DLL on a Windows 2003
environment, I frequently encounter security errors pertaining to performance
counters. I never have these errors when deploying on XP machines. Anyone
here have a procedure that gets rid of that error every time ?
I need to change all keywords in some UV BASIC programs to upper case. Global
search and replace wont do because I should not change the keywords if they
appear inside quotted strings or comments. Some of the programs are really
looong. Does anyone have a better idea how to do this?

Hi all,
Does anyone here run the BDT with UD7.1? At U2U I was given the impression
that it works fine, however, when opening up Database Files in an
account, every single DIR type file gives a loading error dialog and
doesn't register any records in them.
Thanks!
I have this old memory of some command on R83 (dumpgroup, perhaps?) that
would show a group and where the records fell inside of that group. Does
Unidata have a comparable feature?

We have a large ERP system on UniVerse 9.6 on HP-UX.
We have thousands of files - many of which are distributed and / or indexed.
I am trying to work out how to get an overview of the indices on all the
files.
I would like to get a summary of which fields are indexed on each file.
I, too, have had this happen since going to Windows 7.

Last time I checked, the official stance from what was then IBM is that
virtual environments other than VMWare were not supported, and even
then, any DB issues that you ran into while running under VMWare would
need to be fully replicated in a physical environment before support
would be provided.
Ahh bliss

We found it early on in our testing of wInteg 6.1.3. Vista and Windows 7
clients have the behaviour - XP does not. Something to do with the Aero

It took a while to be able to provide U2 support with a reproducible
scenario, but we eventually succeeded in getting an
John,
You should look at the INDICES function it can be called either with just a
file variable or with a file variable and index name. The first form returns a
dynamic array of indices on the file and the second gives pretty much all the
info you need on the individual index.

I need to change all keywords in some UV BASIC

Case conversion in AccuTerm wED does this very nicely.
Code is available to do this as well:

Thanks Doug, I was aware of that. I just want to know if anyone on 7.1
currently uses it since I was told at U2U that it should work fine.
As to the [ad], I would love too try it, however we appear to be
allergic to most technology here. :(
It would take me 5 months to get a trial install
Awesome, thanks Wally!

Looking at runqueue in topas is often a good predictor.
Are you running nmon? I recommend that you do.
On thing to look at there is vmstat -v, and watch to see if the I/O's
blocked because of various buffers being unavailable increases day to day
(or even hour-to-hour).
The other thing in UD
UD has DUMPGOUP (which puts records in a group to external files) and RECORD
which shows the ID's and length's of the items in the group.
There is also an OS command fileview that can really work some
magic/destruction on files.
