[U2] UV config question - uvconfig
So Rocket and others have told me, that no one has ever tampered with this parameter before. Which leads me to believe I should not either. However, I stumbled across it while trying to match up values of uvconfig for a server migration. # OPTMEM - This is the amount of memory allocated # for the query optimizer's workspace. It is # specified in 1K units (1024 bytes). OPTMEM 64 Anyone every increased this before from the default? It seems really low to me in this day and age... -- John Thompson ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
Re: [U2] UV config question - uvconfig
My vote is Do It. But I seriously doubt that IBM or Rocket either has been *any* money into improving the query optimizer anyway. The improvements we are seeing are merely the super fast chips and reductions in latency issues, and the probability that a large majority of the database is resident in memory all the time. -Original Message- From: John Thompson jthompson...@gmail.com To: U2 Users List u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org Sent: Thu, Dec 29, 2011 6:57 am Subject: [U2] UV config question - uvconfig So Rocket and others have told me, that no one has ever tampered with this arameter before. hich leads me to believe I should not either. [U2] U2 UniVerse UCI Config Editor failure msvcr71.dll
Hi Everyone, I've been having some trouble with Client Installs on some of my newer machines, and not just one or two workstations this is more like a half dozen. They're all getting the same error, and I've been unable to find any good answers online, any ideas? The dialog is: Caption: UCI Config Editor: UCICfgED.exe - Unable to Locate Component Text is: This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I get the error from installing the u2 UniVerse 11.1 client tools disc (and I tried 10.3 my last set too) specifically the UniVerse ODBC driver. Then attempting to run the UCI edit to setup the config and I get the Error at the Splash screen about said Microsoft shared DLL not being found, yet each machine has the DLL in the IBM folder from the install, so it doesn't seem to be an issue w/ the install having entirely failed. Attempt re-install, uninstall and then a re-install, none of which change the outcome. Thank you in Advance if you've dealt with this, John J. [U2] UDT 7.2 NEWPCODE NEWVERSION ETC
Since upgrading to udt7.2 from udt7.1 we are having problems getting changes to catalogued programs to take effect. When compiling and globally cataloguing code, it is available immediately from that same tcl session, however a php program executing udt and rtunning the code still gets the old version, and our uniobjects connections still use the same old version. All of this used to work fine with udt7.1 all we had to do was recycle the pooled uniobkects connections and they would pick up the new code. I have tried combinations of the newversion option on the catalog command, newpcode, newversion commands from tcl and newversion from linux as the dev user and as root, but to no avail. according to the manual set... newversion differs from NEWPCODE in that newversion requires that you specify a user or users to obtain the new version, and all other users obtain the previous version. NEWPCODE, on the other hand, changes the version of a program in shared memory for all users. Also according to the manual - NEWPCODE is only applicable in the unidata session from which it is executed so I am not quite sure what the correct way of doing this is. This is on redhat 5.7, and udt 7.2.12 Can anyone enlighten me why any of this is different on 7.2 and what I need to do to get a new session to use the new code ? [U2] !COMO subroutine documentation
A few of our programs use the !COMO subroutine within the program (I normally use it in a PA outside the program itself), but I'm having trouble finding the documentation for it. Sample:CALL !COMO( 2+16+64, COMO.FILE ) Platform: UV 10.1.20 (PI flavor) on HP-UX 11.11 Specifically I'm looking for what the various numbers do. Anyone know where to find this? I've searched the UV docs but don't see it. Thanks in advance, Robert Robert F. Re: [U2] MS-SQL Question
George This is way too heavy for a one-off, but if you're going to be doing this kind of manipulation often and you have the necessary privileges you might want to look at adding some CLR functions to make life easier. Here's a nice example of how to do that: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/SqlRegularExpressions.aspx Brian -Original Message- From: u2-users-boun...@listserver.u2ug.org [mailto:u2-users-boun...@listserver.u2ug.org] On Behalf Of George Gallen Sent: 28 December 2011 15:51 To: U2 Users Subject: [U2] MS-SQL Question I'm querying a sequel server , I have a column in one table that the data is in the form of X|Y|Z. I have the following in my SELECT: substring(colname ,charindex('|',colname)+1, charindex('|',colname, charindex('|',colname)+1) - charindex('|',colname) -1) as PID Is there anyway that I can then use the PID designation in a where clause, without having to retype the string again? I can't add a virtual column to the table , and I can't add a procedure either. ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
