RE: [U2] Universe Windows XP

2004-12-23 Thread Anthony Dzikiewicz
I know Ive been thru this before. I get the RPC service not running message
in the uniadmin application. I looked in services and unirpc has been
started. Something has to be tweaked and I forget what. I should mention
that I am running Universe PE. The client isn't going to buy the real thing
until the solution is sure to work. Don't know if this matters, but I
thought Id mention it.

We use a Function Key for this We tell users to, say, F12 at the

account...

Seems to work...

Sorry, no

I am also wondering how to change the login prompt for the Universe
telnet program ? It goes beyond the screen width.
UniAdmin, under Network Services, Telnet
On Parameters tab, change the Logon Banner test box.
All users on the box get the same message.

Last, when you log into Universe on windows it always asks what
directory (or account) you would like to go to. Is there a way to
do away with this and make it so that the user goes to a preset

Also UniAdmin, Network Services, Telnet,
1) Parameters tab
Under User Policy, check UV Account
2) Users tab, Add User
In User Name put login ID
In User Description put user name (!)
   Click Domains Add
In Domain box put your Windows Domain name
In Account, put full path to the account you want them to log in to

Yes, with no problems (at least on Unix). You might try VT100?

 Last, when you log into
Universe on windows it always asks what directory (or account) you would
like to go to. Is there a way to do away with this and make it so that

You will always get this prompt when the user is administrator (or has
admin rights). Try using a Non-admin User ID.
