Question...
I have a file, my live ORDER (type 30) file. Via unix, I copy
this file to my test account - copy is fine, all records there - no
problem
If I take that same file, and move it to my uvsql account,
all I get is a fraction of the file. I have tried this twice and
got

it should work every time. What is the error message that comes up? Whats

I think the point is not so much that its simpler, certainly not for the
programmer, but that you have so many more options. Text size, formatting,
cell widths, multiple tables on a page, pretty much anythings possible. As
for the overhead:

Everything else goes here
Andy,
Can you give us more details? Does this mean you are only parsing the
script part at line 100 leaving the other defaulted items as they are? Can
you send us an example?
Thanks,

I checked out the link you provided. It appears that the command dg_strace
may be what you are suggesting. I have not had time to try it but it looks
very interesting. Not having used a command like this before I may have a
bit of a learning curve. Once I do try it on a failure I will let you
I don't think its a license issue. analye.shm -c report the correct number
of licenses (1065) while we only have 700 users at peak times. Also, when
the uv command fails it returns to the shell almost instantly with no
message. echo $? returns a 1 (one). Still, that is a difference in the code
It looks like the command is dg_strace for DG/UX. My problem is that I
don't understand the output yet. It looks like it may be a good tool to know
how to use.
Thanks,

I don't use the dual session - it seems a little redundant.
I have it setup to use the disk option for read/write which requires that I
have the host session logged into the correct account in order to
compile/catalog the program.
To do this I change the view to host (so I can see the screen)

Does anybody know if it is possible to send a wintegrate pop-up box to a
different user, from either a unibasic program or a shell script?
Specifically, if Fred is trying to access a record, which is locked by
Barney, is it possible to have a pop-up box appear on Barney's screen?

I am having trouble using the step functions. In my scenario, I have a
program open for editing:
PRINT @TTY = :@TTY
FOO = 1
DEBUG
PRINT ALL DONE
I save it (using the UniObjects option) and select Tools | Compile. I
fill in my password and the login script runs:
- unix username/password login
It looks like it is getting a little confused. I've never had to use the
dual session option. Pressing F8 steps through the code just fine for me.
After you get the host window logged in can you choose compile and have
the compile message show? I find it easiest to switch to host view
(alt+v 3)
Confused is definitely the word for it. I switched to ftp, but no
change. Save / Compile / Catalog all work fine, I can see the commands
in the host window. My version is 1.2.2, so maybe that's the clue I
need. This is from our latest install CD, but maybe I'll grab a new PE

Bill,
Not sure whether you are on UV or UD, so I will avoid using the EDIT-LIST
command (which UD does not have). Given that restriction, probably the
easiest method would be to
SELECT PS = [101393 BY-DSND @ID
(assuming that @id is left-justified)
If only 1 item selected, DELETE PS
If more
The easiest way I got over this is to select the file by @ID. The
control characters are usually at the top or the end (by.dsnd)
Then do an ED file
And then delete the record, stepping through the select list.

There is a numeric type or datum as some people call it.
Since we are talking MV here and not specifically one vendor.
If you look at the opcode of an ADDS machine there is a code for LOADS (string) and
also a seperate one for LOADN (numeric). This implies that there are in fact two

I don't understand. What is this numeric variable. I got the reply '42'.
