I thought that Progress lives as more-or-less a traditional SQL database.
Please clarify...What is special about Progress ?

We are
considering connecting a scale [used to weigh parts] having an RS-232 port to
our HP Unix, UniVerse-based ERP system.
Digi appears to have
the best unit to go from serial to ethernet. While we do have an HP serial

Once
it's all hooked, you establish a link from UV -> scale via a socket

When I issue the following LIST command, there is are apparent bad
characters, ascii box drawing characters.
How can I clear them ? The two characters show up a single "box" below.
Thus far, I have had no luck using EditPlus, HP-Unix vi, UniVerse Edit
Up-Arrow mode, or UV.VI.
I tried the asc
sorting unprintable characters differently than mine is, and you will
have to play with the selection process in order to get the right record
selected prior to deleting it.

We bought the year-end UV amnesty upgrade from IBM. Because of an existing
ERP license agreement, we need to stay with "Unix".
While I would prefer to stay with HP-Ux, pricing for a new HP-Ux server
seems to be approaching $10,000. Right now, I am not sure if it makes any
sense to upgrade hardw

Itanium ?

Right now we are using UV v8.3.3 on HP-Ux v10.01.
When we upgrade both UV and the OS, will we need to reCompile all of our
UniBasic programs?

If I migrate from A to B [like HP-Ux to AIX] do all of the UniBasic programs
need to be recompiled in order to run on the target platform ?

Any comments on www.AntsSoftware.com ? They contend to be the "fastest"

We need to buy a new server. Perhaps we should chill for a few months...
I gather that HP-Ux runs on Itanium now. What is IBM's timetable for
rolling out Itanium servers with AIX? When is UV targeted to run on
Itanium?
