Hi all,
I've just upgraded my Ubuntu installation from 12.04 to 14.04. So far all
appears to be well, apart from the fact that Orca will sometimes produce
distorted/garbled speech.
It's as if the speech rate goes so high that you can't make out what is
being said.
This doesn't happen all the tim
Thanks Milton.
This seems to work great.
Is there a bug logged for this that I can lend my support to?
Thanks,
Nick

Thanks Milton,
I've made the alterations to /etc/pulse/default.pa that Majid posted and so
far everything seems good.
Cheers for your help.

Hi all,
I installed the vanilla Ubuntu 14.04 on an old laptop and was not happy with
the performance of the Unity desktop (machine only has 1GB of RAM which I
gather is too little to get good performance from Unity).
Next I tried a fresh install of Ubuntu Gnome, which I gather is like the

Hi Glenn,
Its a long shot I know, but have you made sure that VirtualBox has the
keyboard focus before pressing the Orca shortcut keys?
I'm not familiar with VirtualBox, but with VMWare you have to press

Hi Glenn,
Are you sure that Ubuntu has the keyboard focus? If not, your
keystrokes will not go through to the guest operating system.
I use VMWare on linux, and by default VMWare does not grab keyboard
focus unless you either put the VM into full screen or press Ctrl+G (or

Hi Daniel,
When this has happened to me I usually find that removing or renaming
the .config/pulse directory in my home folder is enough to reset everything.
Can you SSH into the machine from somewhere else, or log in as a
different user?
I have learned to have a second user account set up
Hi Daniel,
I'm not aware of one, but personally I don't mind if you post your
question here and we'll see what we can do to help.
