Sorry but I have to reopen. The bug was originally reported for dapper
only, and I got back the bug after upgrading to KDE 3.5.4 from the
kubuntu.org repos. Last time I shutdown my machine from dapper, it
dropped me to tty1 and I was able to do nothing on that terminal too. I
had to hard-reboot.

The Simple theme doesn't exist in Edgy. And I cannot reproduce this
problem with the other themes. And finally we haven't heard in many
months from the 2 users who could see this problem. I'll close this bug

Ok, I have installed totem-gstreamer and reinstalled totem-xine and now
I can play my videoclips again. It looks like this libxine-extracodecs
was uninstalled by some other application (I guess)

Reproducibility: happens when e.g. many people log out at the same time

friday afternoon, restarted monday). Note that the pinging from the main
gdm process is not present anymore. The Fatal X error detected. is
present even under normal conditions and hence is not cause of the bug.

I saw this as a dependancy of gnome-desktop today, but it seems not to be used
anywhere.
it does not show up in the wallpaper selection dialog (although space-01 would
be great for it) nor is it used by gnome-screensaver picture folder.
Besides space-03 should be removed
I'd like to report a similar bug. In Edgy (Knot 3, fully updated), Adept
doesn't behave like a translated application even though it's 100%
translated into Czech. I'm using the daily langpacks. I can provide more
information if necessary.
(I hope this bug will be resolved soon - before the Edgy
Notify me if it's a separate bug, but I thought these two bugs might be
caused by the same problem.
