Well, the error is in it for some time already :/ I can still reproduce the
bugger time and time again.
I solved it by making the config file read only. It isn't a very decent way
of fixing the problem, but it seems that the grubdevelopers from Ubuntu
don't have any interests in solving this

The problem occurred because of a botched dist-upgrade. I think it was
caused by having firestarter installed when I ran the upgrade. I was
forced to reformat and reinstall from scratch.

MOTU has only known about this for 2 days. expecting 1 bug out of about

ldm the ltsp login manager sets the ESPEAKER variable, the initscript
that starts ldm also starts esd on the thin client (if SOUND=True is set
in /opt/ltsp/$ARCH/etc/lts.conf (which is the default since edgy)).
gstreamer is set to automatically use esd for output.
so all applications shipped by

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Words like these keep me going.
The version in edgy (0.3.1) has only just been obsoleted last week, and
now we are up to version 0.4.1. Hopefully 0.4.1 (or newer) will make it
into feisty. I shall talk to our Debian maintainer, Jan Luebbe, about
it.

I'd like to comment on an idea I read on Ubuntuforums: script folders.
These would be like common folders containing items, only that a given
script would be applied to all files copied to them.
Imagine that I want my wallpapers to be at the
same as the level of support, closing a distro wide bug only because one
of three current versions (beta at that) got a bugfix.
