I think I've found a workaround...
sudo rmmod snd_usb_audio
and add the line:
blacklist snd-usb-audio
in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

I had a lot of problems with 7.04 Ubuntu and I could never find a forum
or bug report to help me resolve them. I finally trashed 7.04 and went
back to 6.10 Ubuntu. My updated Firefox works just fine now

ok so this monitor of mine is able to do PIP so I brought up some cable
in the PIP window while the brightness was dimmed after locking the
screen, and it was not affected by the problem, so it is not my monitor
causing the issue either, I also took the time to try and change screen

I am using feisty and have been experiencing the same bug since some
month ago (may be an upgrade). I can't even associate using iwconfig,
however I found the following workaround: when I use iwconfig to
associate to the AP, I also specify the channel as follows
iwconfig eth1 ESSID MY_ESSID mode

The link is broken because the directory breezy-seveas is removed from
the repository. It's possible that is due to the expired support for
Breezy. You will not able to connect to that site, so I suggest to
remove it from repository list in Adept.
