I cannot print in landscape from any gnome apps. I can get the
orientation and placement of the printout right but the text is then
clipped to portrait width, leaving the right side of the landscape paper

This also happened for me. I was doing these things:
- updating
- changing the volume
Firefox also crashed. But the order of things is not clear, what I think that
happened:
- volume changes
- gnome-settings-deamon crashed
- theme went away
- firefox crashed

I have a similar problem with my Dell E1505 laptop. The hibernate
(Fn-F1) never initiate hibernate on kubuntu. I have checked with xev
and confirm that Fn-F1 are mapped to 165 XF86Sleep and with "lshal -m"
that has gets the request, but hibernate fails.
