I wanted to comment again on this bug should anyone with this problem
stumble upon this hoping for a solution. Although it should be obvious
to veteran Linux users, the problem is alleviated by mounting the
samba/cifs share directly. That is, instead of navigating to the share
through nautilus:
I just rebooted, plugged in my mouse into all three external USB ports,
tried out the webcam (using $cheese), and inserted a USB flash drive.
Here's the tail end of dmesg when everything is working properly:

I have a similar - but more radical - problem on an Acer Travelmate 4152
Lmi (a Centrino-based notebook with a 32-bit Pentium M 1.73 GHz). A few

An additional duplication: x11-common and xinit both install a copy of
/etc/X11/Xsession but they supply different versions of the file, so the
version that's actually used depends on the installation order.

Some developments. I directly connected my monitor to the machine, and
of course, it was perfectly detected, resolution, the lot. However,
