I still sometimes see this issue on Hardy. It is not always reproducible
but I saw that freeze recently when having Firefox in fullscreen mode on
one screen, and double clicking Totem on another screen to go fullscreen
(I've got a dual head setup, nvidia driver). If I connect to the system
with
its a good idea to buy a new battery every 18 months or so.

ALSA does not mute the speakers when booting with headphones plugged in
for the ALC888 Realtek HDA chipset. This has been reported by our

This doesn't seem to be a kernel bug. Reassigning to xorg since you
mention restarting X resolves the issue. Care to take a look at
