Hi, I had to try this with Hardy liveCD because I installed Debian Lenny
over Hardy to see if it had the same problem. If you think it will be

I have exactly the same issue with Ubuntu 7.1 and Open Office 2.4. Picture sent
from Xarafaxz is similar to what I get on my screen (HP NC6220 Laptop LCD).

Same problem here with hardy. I also start skype with alltray. Besides, if I
start thunderbird with alltray (alltray -na thunderbird), thunderbird opens but
won't minimize, it starts with open window.

Disabling compiz didn't help. Neither did using 0.9.60 (which was then
the latest version of wine), as I recall.
I have now put an Nvidia 6600GT into the machine. Using the restricted
drivers Democracy works on Hardy (It displays correctly *and* does not

Evolution sometimes appears to get stuck when viewing mail. I am unable

It's most likely a kernel issue, since the fan is/should be managed by
the kernel. Can you tell what's the type and manufacturer of the laptop
you're using? Thanks.
