I have seen this error with lyx version 1.5.3-1 and libqtcore4 version
4.4.0-1ubuntu5-hardy1. In my case, the error occurs when you attempt to
open a file (any file). (It also, unhelpfully, tells the user to read
the bug-reporting instructions in Help-Introduction, which is also a

The update is working fine for me. Language pack came along with Firefox so it
remained translated. Plugins (flash, adobe pdf, vlc, Sun java) are working.
YouTube videos detto. It works as it should, no crash, no freeze, no slowdown.

this has been fixed, and only was a problem if you had ubuntu-proposed
repos enabled. That repo is for testing, and can break things. Its
there as a testing ground before updates get into ubuntu-updates. If
you want ubuntu to be more stable, disable that repo

My computer is a Dell Optiplex GX620.
I think it had some kind of special diagnostic partition on the HDD
when delivered. Perhaps this is what confuses vol_id, it says it has
label DellUtility.

NoOp: $gksu id doesn't work doing anything I've tried, including ctrl-c
followed by another gksu id. I've also tried opening another terminal
window just for the hell of it. I haven't tried doing it outside the
GUI altogether.

After the update from Firefox 3b5 to Firefox 3rc1 (Hardy Proposed) the
language support is broken.
1. The add-ons Firefox (de) 3.0b5 and Xulrunner (de) 1.9.b5 should have been
uninstalled.
2. The installation of the new add-ons selected
