This MUST be fixed, SOON. I just spent three hours going around in
circles, thinking my video card was damaged somehow, or that the hard
disk had corrupted some binaries, because every time I tried to log in

After upgrading from gutsy to hardy gnome freezes after logon when the
userdirectory is located on a cifs share (i also use nss_ldap and
pam_ldap and mount the samba share using pam_mount). I use the serverino

I can confirm this problem on my EeePC. A little more detail though. I
installed Ubuntu 8.04 with an external USB mouse attached. When booting
the laptop without a USB mouse I can use the trackpad in the login
screen, but when I login as the user created upon first installation it
stops working.
When you say falls, what exactly do you mean?
Is just on the hotmail site, with that particular account?
Have you tried clearing the cache, making sure JavaScript is enabled,
and such things?

1. Ensure /etc/hosts file is correct

I'm using the latest Hardy, with OOo 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2
I can't really share a screenshot... it's the fact that the tooltips everywhere
else do one thing, and OOo tooltips do another, which leads me to believe they
are a different window type.
