Just tested with a live cd of Ubuntu 8.10 and the network card still doesn't
work.
The green led lights up when a cable is plugged in (like hardy).
Also, the interface is called "pan0", while it was "eth0" in Hardy Heron.

After this "fix" to GTK, my system performance is ABYSMALLY slow. At
least a 60% overall UI performance hit. Running Nvidia 180.29 (standard

I had the -fluendo-mpegdemux package installed, but not the

They are plain debs. So yes just grab the linux-image and install that,
you only need the headers if you have nvidia or ati binary drivers (ie
those which use dkms to install). Thanks.
