The way firefox currently upgrades is disastrous. There needs to be
hooks that ask the user when they quit firefox if they want to upgrade
instead of upgrading over the currently installed version of firefox
while it is running.

All the NFS functionality is done in the kernel, not in the userland.
So you can't even kill a command waiting for the NFS server - or to be more

Note that the plugins directory does not exist by default. You need to

.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc was using /usr/sbin/mysqld instead of

i re-ran the install and made sure to only select ext4 this time. i did
get a proper message saying that because i didnt pick to format the
partition, files and directories would be deleted prior installing.
after the interactive part of ubiquity the complaint about /cdrom being
unmountable showed

Another well-established and widely used application that will cease
working unless the fix is incorporated seems to be the openoffice
integration of zotero (http://www.zotero.org/). See this bug report:

OK, I had some time to debug this.
The problem is caused by a thread-unsafe patch introduced by the
upstream maintainer (in
debian/patches/13_avahi_fix_and_handle_restart.dpatch). This patch was
intended to restore Firefly's broken Avahi handler so that daemon
reconnections could be handled
