Nevermind. I figured out that I messed up with the hal.dll file in Windows. I
downloaded another one to replace the original and that's what was messing up
the startup process.

Waldeck's method works for me too. Video does not flicker for me now.
There is a bit of tearing now and then, though -- in both, windowed and
full-screen mode. CPU usage remains high too - about 30% for mplayer. I

Nope, I have tried everything.
Pretty much it is very simple, bios expects something from the system on
resume. I am pretty sure it is something that is very OS specific. It is

1000HEB. When resuming from suspend, the backlight does not turn on.
If I log out at this point I find myself at a lit log in screen.
However, logging in leads to non-working backlight again. Rebooting

tell it where a bunch of photos were. It scanned the folders and took a
long time doing it (9000 photos). I notice that it's actually imported

My system has no /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc* file. Without any such
configuration, I would expect aplay(1) to default to the first ALSA
device (i.e. /proc/asound/card0, or the first entry in
/proc/asound/modules, both correctly indicating the SBLive).

Thanks Twig. Based on your information, if the mainline kernels are
working fine it would seem this is an Ubuntu specific regression that
was introduced. Thus, applying any patches to the Ubuntu kernel won't
likely help. Let's try and narrow down the Ubuntu specific patch that
introduced this
