I realised that there are no device listed in the Sound Properties, and no more
possibilities to choose other thing than Pulse.
I had done some files for pulseaudio before in my ~/.pulse directory.
I renamed it (to save it) and restart my pc: = The sound is back

helps, as:
- System Settings - LookFeel - Display Effects only allows to temporarily
suspend compositing, not disable it completely
- I get kwin crashes upon startup - when compositing is always reenabled

So you have 2 possibilities: 1) fix your crap. 2) Drop your crap.
It would be really sad that an ubuntu specific patch makes empathy crash
at startup for all non-GNOME users, and users that just removed the
indicator applet. We already got lots of bug reports in Empathy's
Pulseaudio + Wine (Spotify) still has random problems in Karmic beta
(9.10) with all the updates applied as of today (14 oct 2009, 01:43am
GMT-7). Audio from Wine occasionally makes clicking sounds, and
sometimes the audio is completely garbled. Seems a random issue
associated with changing songs

I just upgraded to Karmic. After I closed my laptop screen (which causes
the backlight to come off) and opened it again, the screen would come up
with no backlight, which lets you see nearly nothing of the screen. The
