I Downloaded Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop-i386 iso CD with my AMD64 machine. It checks
fine and loads alive properly on the same PC.
The problem is that the same CD does not installs or even checks for errors in
my other PC, a HP 753 PC with Intell i-386 processor.
When I try to install or even check for
Thanx Bradd and Daniel, both are true. I think, after the my update from 9.04
to 9.10, ubuntu had a problem with grub. Possible, that it's a restriction of
the bios to the size of the HD. In the laptop originally a 60 GB HD was in, I
changed to a 160 GB. With windows no problem and with ubuntu
Yeah \o/
Ok, the only issue was on devscript not being there so. I guess we must
enhance distutils-extra to print a better error message about installing
devscript.
Thanks for using Quickly. Do not hesitate to give any other inputs :)
** Changed in: python-distutils-extra
Assignee:
I had the same issue, I have an Acer Aspire 6930G.
Karmic didn't even start installing with the live cd without acpi=off, I
guess it needs net connection to get along.
I have tested both 32 and 64 bit fixed kernels from
http://people.canonical.com/~apw/lp386468-karmic/ and they work just
fine.
This seems quite serious if it is true, and could explain why so many
people are installing nvidia, rebooting, and finding things fail to
work. Pitti, mind looking into this one? If it is not erroring out
properly, maybe this needs an SRU...
** Changed in: jockey (Ubuntu)
Importance:
I'm not test Karmic yet.
But I need to say that for my LG X110 this flickering had happened with kernel
2.6.28 after fn-Brightness keys was added in fdi to avoid atkbd.c: Unknown key
pressed messages.

When updating the firefox through the repository causes the problem to
reoccur, with no change to tabmixplus, I would think that it would be
the ubuntu firefox addon that is the problem. Not mention that it breaks
OTHER addons as well. Or are you going to say that it is all of the
other addons
