fbcon (framebuffer console) is exceptionally slow.
Additionally, it breaks qemu's -curses feature, which is really quite
useful.

Toni, try installing the 'linux-backports-module-alsa-karmic-generic'
package, and then reboot. After the reboot, double-check your mixer
settings as some devices may become reset to mute after this package

I take your points. I would make two points in response:
1) My camera takes a very long time to mount for some reason. If I don't mount
it and allow
digikam to access using ptp it still takes a while but not as long. Why the
long delay?
Is it the fact that the usb connection is slow or
I am working with TB last version (2.0.0.23) with Ubuntu 9.04. I cannot
upgrade to 9.10 due to kernel problems with my video card.
I do not know how I did it, but my folder list has disappeared. On the
left, I only have the side of the window, the bar which could be used to
resize the folder list
I have not installed Openshot, bu I did install dvdstyler and
Oggconvert. I am removing these packages and will try the suggestion in

Very valid reasons yes, but F-Spot isn't valid enough to touch up
pictures. There is no possibilities for include (delete) pixels like
lines, text, boxes etc. F-Spot is not a paint-program. If Gimp has to go
out, it should be changed by another, but more simple, one. Otherwise
I totally agree with Adrian. Configurable timeouts should be implemented
in notify-osd. As long as -t option is present in notify-send (and it
should be), the ball is in userland. It's sad to see it not being part

As Giorgio and Ilna said, the bug happens when copying something from
netbeans and right clicking on firefox bookmarks toolbar.
I found what is the problem, it seams to happen when using netbeans
installed from ubuntu repositories. One of the requirements of this
package is OpenJDK and I think
I confirm this same problem on Debian Lenny.
I was not able to fix the problem by adding: DEVICE /dev/hd[abcdef][12]
or DEVICE /dev/sd[abcdef][12] to mdadm.conf
this is for IDE hard drives, I assume support has degraded for such devices

So far I only booted by using the grub prompt and entering commands,
but I was finally able to boot. basically what I did was:

Following situation here:
Karmic Installation with wubi
Kernel is 2.6.31-14 (no other installed)
After booting grub says error: file not found
grub.cfg looked like garbage
Booted Ubuntu from Live-CD
Grup.cfg looks fine here. I tried to rewrite it anyway by doing the following

export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=none
before running oo apps, or in your .profile/.bashrc somewhere...

I uninstalled ooo and tried the openoffice 3.1 from openoffice.org site
and it crashed on launch when trying to open a .doc file.
I uninstalled that, deleted the .openoffice folder and re-installed the
ubuntu ooo package, and now openoffice has a windows 98 look feel.
But, it doesn't crash when
