I don't get the dialogs anymore but interestingly enough, now when I
unmount a partition in gnome (external usb in my case), followed by
opening gparted, gparted does not show the device which had that
partition.
That will happen if the device got ejected,

Why would you mount a PTP camera at all?
why should a user care about the difference between a PTP and Mass
Storage camera? they just want to plug in their camera and retrieve
their photos.

It's a config option to allow things like debugging - but if you set it
to debug, you can expect strange behaviour caused by the very fact
you're debugging udev.
In this case, it's all to do with the way that file descriptors are
chained up - it's correct for debugging, but causes other issues

I have been annoyed by this problem for long time too. I just searched
for it, and here it seems to be.
I open some folder and try to cut file using ctrl+x and I have to do
this often 2-3 times before it cuts the file. Usually I notice the
problem only when trying to
IMO, it is most intuitive if ctrl-U (or the menu entry) hides/shows
(toggles) the user list, but that is a bit inconsistent with the way it
works with the pop-up list, where ctrl-U displays it and the escape key
dismisses it.

You shouldnt be able to update from hardy to karmic directly you need to go via
jaunty to karmic.
The unable to get exclusive lock means you are using apt somewhere else and
is unrelated to the bug.

Despite the fatal module error, the installer seems to mount the ISO
properly. The contents of the /cdrom directory in the installation
process is the same as the ISO file.
What does not match, is the directory structure: /var/log/syslog tells
us that the installer complains about missing

I have an acer aspire 6930g, the fixes Andy Whitcroft had posted on

Karmic kernel update of today (2.6.31.15.50 I think) again wasn't able
