Tested with this up to date Karmic:
The behavior is a little different but it still refuses to create a user
with UID of 10.
Following warning is outputted:
(users-admin:1866): Glib-GObject-WARNING **: value 10 of type

I can solve the problem by a reboot or by clicking on the screensaver-

Screensaver doesn't start
I hope Canonical can nudge the upstream on this, since it has been
outstanding since 2001 Seems like a simple UI feature, rather than
actual functionality too...
I hope we don't get to the point where such a simple, and frankly
obvious request can take 10 years to be adopted.

Importance:
when ever i open either flv or avi movies it does not open it up... it
just shuts down the movie player. weither you double click or open the
movie from the menu file it just shuts down.

Same problem here with an Samsung YP-U3 mp3 player.
The workaround has fixed temporarily the problem.

Importance:
Good idea! No sign of gnome-screensaver in the ps aux listing. The
gnome-powermanager might be the culprit - that's there.
Nevertheless, the screensavers appear after 5 minutes, set on Random as
far as I can see, although I have the settings Blank Screen, and
Activate unset. This happens if
