I think my laptop was put in suspend mode then I reported. When I did
the wireless was no longer working and Network Manager shows wireless
disabled. When I attempt to enable it via the FN-F2 key, I get the
following oops:
Everything worked fine a week before last.
I just removed then reinserted the iwl395 module. My wireless is back.

Pat, if you explicitly modprobe the sound driver, you can do it like
this:
# modprobe snd-hda-intel model=basic
Or you can edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add the line:

In Ubuntu 9.10, recorded DVD-R disks don't show an icon on the desktop
and can't be played. Identical blank DVD-R disks mount properly, as do

We seem to be having slightly different problems - I am getting a sound
out of my speakers when I would expect a system beep. What I'm trying
to do is go back to the ugly PC speaker beep that I know and love. I
was guessing that the sound was being produced by pulse audio, and it

Xorg reboot problem is gone after updating BIOS to latest version (08LI).
Unfortunately, that required installing Windows just to launch executable file
of BIOS updater that Samsung provides :(
Still, I'm on 4GB RAM right now and everything works fine... except of Fn key
for brightness control

naive is corrected as naïve as soon as space bar is hit. There's a
workaround if one can avoid hitting the space bar by placing a space
beforehand and placing cursor ahead.
